The National Guard is a large organization. Each State is different, each unit will vary as well. A new employee might discover a great culture and an extremely poor culture.
First, the guard is not a purely state-focused organization. IF you sign up to serve your state, know that the National Guard Bureau, a federal agency is the primary funder for routine National Guard requirements. The state puts up the money and pays the bills during the year. Then the state applies for reimbursement at the end of the year to (NGB). This means the federal government has a massive effect on the guard's operations.
So if the FED says your state must do something they don't like ( take the 2020-2024 Texas border disagreements) then 9 of 10 times your state will do as told.
About 1 in 10 soldiers will find a way to be employed by the guard full-time. Most soldiers will be "M-DAY" or Part-timers. They will complete the part-time training schedule for the year, show up for deployments or state emergencies, and then be released back to their civilian lives. This often exceeds the 2 days a month, 2 weeks every summer structure the guard recruiters advertise.

A typical day was working together to ensure minimum waste of vaccine while providing fast and reliable service to patients. Learning reconstitution values and working together with a data team to ensure paper copies went to electronic was key. Management ensured each team understood it's assigned location and time. The environment was relaxed due to everyone understanding the mission objectives and performing well. The hardest part was long hours combined with long drives to sites. However, a rotational work cycle ensured that an employee could get time off to enjoy some of the locations visited.

You work 410 hour days a week. You are required to be a member of the National Guard of South Carolina and do physical training, three days a week as part of your workday.
