Also, many of the employees are great teammates, which makes the work even more enjoyable. Many felt overworked. private:nationalparkfoundation https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=23661 Oct 6th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open National Park Foundation Director United States USA Family UNFRIENDLY Many great colleagues and good cause NPF has fired (without cause), laid off, forced into new positions, or steamrolled the vast majority of young mothers who have worked for the organization in the last 5-7 years. There is no flexibility for parents and the culture is such that if you take time away, even during the pandemic, you will be blacklisted. The pace is ridiculous, with not-actually-urgent fire drills coming down from the C-Suite more than weekly, and senior leaders within the organization uncaring if that complicates schedules for parents juggling childcare and work expectations. Leadership is out of touch and egotistical - unsurprising for a group of rich, old, white men, but disappointing for a cause like the national parks that should be democratic. Seriously, some of them even brag about their forefathers coming over on the Mayflower or being governors 3 or 4 generations back. All they really care about it is their own legacy, even to the point of driving away good employees. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 2.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 2.0 1.0 23661 Open 0.0 [{"countHelpful": 0, "languageId": "eng", "userJobTitle": "Recruitment Specialist", "__typename": "EmployerResponse", "originalLanguageId": null, "id": 2819912, "responseDateTime": "2020-10-21T13:04:57.53", "translationMethod": null, "response": "Thank you for your feedback. NPF is a family-friendly employer, with a sizeable percentage of parents on our team, including several key members of our C-Suite. We have created family friendly policies and have always supported our parent population. Our HR department works closely with parents to ensure they have access to all our benefits including leave, extended health care coverage for families, income protection for new parents, and other wellness programs. This past year, we granted leave under the FFCRA to accommodate the needs of staff who faced difficulties in working and caring for their children during the pandemic. Leadership also encouraged supervisors to be flexible with all employees during this period of uncertainty, including those that face childcare, eldercare or health-related issues. NPF remains committed to its full staff and we will continue to provide this type of flexibility in the work environment.", "responseOriginal": null, "countNotHelpful": 0}] REGULAR No No 6.0 Mar 24th, 2021 10:57PM Mar 24th, 2021 10:57PM National Park Foundation

In doing so, we have evaluated and invested in ways to improve our workplace. As we navigate and adapt to this new difficult time we are also working with experts to enhance our culture. Very friendly CEO, great HR department, and has a fantastic mission. Very poorly managed team, little to no cross team collaboration, nobody was happy there. Very high turnover due to the poor work culture. All work was completed alone at your desk with little room for thought or innovation. Immediate supervisors did not provide much background or information to anyone on the team. If you are looking to join a non-profit that infuses the passion it has for its mission into every aspect of the job experience, I would definitely apply here. NPF cares about representation, employee well-being and empowering each member of the team to grow professionally. I have felt in my time here that my colleagues care about me as a person, and that I have access to the executives, even at an entry level. It is big enough where you always feel like you are learning , but not so big that you couldn't get to know every single one of your colleagues if you put in the effort. The HR department ROCKS! They plan wellness fairs, the benefits are great, and they invest in making you feel seen, heard, and work to resolve any problems you may have. Working for the National Park Foundation (NPF) has provided that special combination. The NPF team is hard working, and 200% committed to the preservation and betterment of our incomparable national parks. It's an inspiring group to be a part of. The work culture is also top notch. People take great pride in their work, and at the same time, NPF recognizes that everyone has interests, family, and commitments outside of the office. All around, this is fantastic organization and I feel very fortunate to be on the team.
