The lower level employees are fantastic and the products are serving such an important patient population.
|
Lack of transparency, blatant lying from upper management to employees, vendors, etc. to cover themselves, lack of financial sense. Very unprofessional work environment, a lot of swearing and yelling from upper management, storming out of meetings, degrading comments, etc. Very difficult to implement any improvements and/or changes.

Open Door Policy - Wide range of Benefits - Significant Growth

I had a chance to leave, but these are the reasons that I chose not to:
The company management has integrity. They focus on making the best products for the benefit of the babies whose lives will depend on them. I've personally seen managers attempt to help both current and ex-employees, with no expectation of personal or company benefit. The company is growing significantly, as can be seen by the number of employees this year vs. year's past, as well as new markets. They offer a wide variety of benefits, and upper management has an open door policy.
I believe that this is the kind of company where people can have an impact (both on the company and on the customers), as well as grow personally/professionally.

They are a growing mid-sized company, which means there is a lot of continuous activity and changes being made. They've recently been implementing new software, which has caused a temporary increase in workload. So, if you like a quiet, never-changing job, this isn't it (at least not today).

The core of the company was created for the good. It is a paycheck
|
The management doesn't care - they close their doors day after day. The owner doesn't ever come to the office to talk to the employees. He only comes to interview sales candidates and for management meetings (sometimes...). There is a lot of turnover in the sales organization and it is all about the number of boxes shipped out. No one cares that each box of product was shipped at a loss, they only care that it was shipped so that the sales team can brag they are in "500 leading hospitals" etc.

Pay attention to the bottom line. Stop robbing the left pocket to pay the right pocket. Sell 5 boxes of product for max profit instead of being worried about selling 500 boxes at no profit. Pay attention to what your employees are saying. Get back to the core of the business. The small company you started as was one for the record books.
