Neurotar Oy Ltd was founded in 2009 to commercialize the founders’ core expertise of high resolution imaging in live rodents (in vivo two-photon a.k.a. multiphoton microscopy).
We firmly believe in the high relevance of research in live and especially in non-anesthetized animals. We consider it our mission to help both industrial and academic scientists transition from in vitro to in vivo preparations.
Two-photon imaging allows visualizing individual cells and even organelles within the living brain. Imaging of exact same cells can be done repeatedly over minutes, days or weeks: this allows drug developers to follow the disease progression or the effects of treatment and improves the statistical significance of acquired data. Neurotar deploys its imaging platform for service provision to global pharmaceutical and biotech companies focusing in particular on visualizing biodistribution of CNS-targeting biologics (trans-BBB PK) and drug-target interactions in mouse models of neurodegeneration, stroke and pain.
In 2014, Neurotar brought to market a unique research tool that enables high precision imaging and electrophysiological tests in awake and behaving rodents (Mobile HomeCage®). We sell the Mobile HomeCages® to the academic labs world-wide, both directly and through a network of partners and distributors. We also use this tool for service provision to drug developers (in vivo microscopy of awake mouse brain).
