For the last few decades, NAM has lived off its once shining reputation as a alternative news source that produced reliable news coverage and op-eds by the marginalized voices of youth and minorities... it is now a floundering news project that takes pay-to-play money for any type of story as well as syndicating the truly unreliable and outrageous (yes, in the wake of Fukushima, they ran an un-sourced piece about how the meltdown was really caused by Japan hiding an illegal nuclear weapons program). And now, the CEO not only micro-manages to the point of stagnating and crushing any commitment or drive in the staff, she also lies and spreads gossip among the staff about employees she thinks are doing a poor job (instead of actually working with the employees on their performances). Great name and brand recognition in the sector, great networking opportunities. Very serious and unsustainable financial situation, leading to late pay checks, layoffs, and so forth. Founder/ED micromanages EVERYTHING, no processes or procedures in place, very disorganized. When it's bad it's worse. Amazing work that actually matters. It's a good place to get some experience since you will end of wearing a lot of hats. Woefully underfunded and understaffed.
