Great EMS providers; underwhelming leadership

RWJBH provides outstanding patient care and has some of the best providers in the business. The organization’s field staff are what make EMS so great. The equipment is good and protocols are moving with science.
The leadership is where things breakdown. The VP and Senior Director are true visionaries. They want the best for the department and the people. There is a lack of support to lower and mid-level managers and turn over is high. There was a lack of professionalism and seemed to be a lot of doing things just because they were always done that way. The Clinical and Logistics teams do a great job and go out of there way to help.

there's a lot of frequent turnover with staff. It's a good health system and does some really amazing things but the culture was not the best. I always felt a bit on edge and upper management is meh.

Great health system

A health system with multiple locations and hospitals to choose from. I worked at one of the smaller community hospitals but corporate was very good about taking care of us. Overall administration is very responsive and I have har great co-workers.

The biggest challenge is the lack of inclusion in leadership. The organization says they are an anti-racist organization, but beyond a surface level that is not the reality. For people with who this isn't is a concern and you do not have a questioning attitude, you will do fine.
If not, you will be in for a culture shock, and may not stay long...

Great place to start
|
Good place to start out. I made some great connections with my fellow coworkers. Management lacks ability to back up its staff. They expect a lot from their staff and will definitely burn you out without thinking twice but at the same type I gained so much experience and learned new skills by having to do so many different things. Including things that aren’t part of your job. The health insurance was really good as long as your okay seeing their doctors which I was. The pay is lacking and they don’t really do raises so I’d advise to negotiate a good starting salary in the beginning. I would have if I’d known that after years I’d never make more than what I accepted to start.
