Not much to speak of anymore. For any who worked at this company back in it's heyday of Miller Freeman, PSN, and CMP we all remember the terrific leadership and camaraderie that used to permeate the office. Ownership and leaders who really cared about the employees. Once an equity group purchased the company and put in place an incompetent CEO, along with many ineffective managers who basically just shuffled things around and put the blame on others, it all went downhill. The Pros used to be the strength of it's staff, who were terrific coworkers, and did the best for the clients. There were industry leading publications in interesting markets. It was a nurturing and creative environment. The staff actually cared about each other, and in turn, cared about the company. The last CEO and ownership ruined all that and destroyed every last bit of morale, and in turn, killed the soul of the company. In a desperation move corners were cut everywhere to save money as they were trying to sell off this sinking ship. Pretty much a skeleton staff was in place and told to do more with less. The morale was horrible. There was none. And it got worse and worse over the years. Little to no resources. Hardly any training or sales tools. Websites with little traffic. Paper thin publications. A legacy company that was relying way too much on print titles in a changing digital market. No game plan or direction on how to pivot to a more positive course. Then the layoffs began. Those who were there for many years, cornerstones of the company and well regarded professionals in the industry, were let go. No one was hired to replace them, and then others left for greener pastures on their own when they saw the writing on the wall. Ownership and CEO did not care at that point, as it was a bottom line thing, and those with larger numbers attached to their names were shown the door. They ended up selling to Future at a huge loss from what the equity group bought for originally. The bumbling CEO was canned. Invest in training. Offer more resources for the sales people. Get quality management in place who are empathetic to their colleagues. Stop buying mediocre websites and publications to pump up the portfolio aimlessly as the last regime did. Fix what you already have instead. Put leaders in place who are creative, focused, transparent, and most of all, human. Make it a goal to build up morale and let the workers know they matter. The people were lovely and enthusiastic, the team morale was great and the job was fun. They got rid of and pushed out all the good people and replaced them with inexperienced staff. Lots of power hungry people in management positions. Respected publications that present unique networking opportunities. Company was recently purchased and Future seems to have a better handle on financials. As with all companies, you are told to do less with more. There is total chaos and mismanagement.
