This often took more time away from other work we needed to get done and held us back from getting our full expected paycheck. - To reinforce the toxic overworking environment that others have described, there was a leaderboard displayed in the main working area that showed how much hours every employee had billed to clients.... - The sales team frequently brought on clients that had large pockets but were not good fits for the company, leading to dissatisfaction for employees and the clients themselves. Here’s how New Breed operates: New Breed: “this is a fast paced working environment” Reality: “we are severely understaffed and we’re gonna run you into the ground” New Breed: “we offer competitive wages” Reality: “we pay minimum wage” New Breed: “you must be a fast learner” Reality: “we’re gonna give you minimum training and then expect you to know everything” New Breed: “we’re like a family” Reality: “we are incredibly toxic and we will manipulate you into doing things you normally wouldn’t be ok with doing” New Breed: “you must be a team player” Reality: “you’re not allowed to have boundaries” New Breed: “flexible hours” Reality: “you must be available to us 24/7 and PTO takes out of your salary” New Breed: “you must be a multitasker” Reality: “you’re gonna have the workload of three different positions but we’re only gonna pay you for one” Be sure to read the negative reviews and be cautious of the recent, positive reviews (as there is some speculation those good reviews are from the inner circle). It's clear there are many, many issues at this company and seemingly Leadership is avoiding dealing with the issues; if anything, they're choosing to post positive reviews. The bad reviews all fall along similar lines of terrible tiered system that is well-below industry standard for salary, complete burnout and no fiscal compensation, false PTO, Kool aide-"culture", and minimum effort to help employees. Don't even waste your time applying to this company. The lower level employees and teammates are fantastic, and the #1 thing you will bond over is how much you hate your job, how you can't pay your bills and how stressed you are. Everything about this company is a façade. The pay structure, the PTO, the culture, your job description. Read all of these negative reviews and know that that is an exact look into this company from both former and current employees. Pay structure: when you get your offer and learn about the "tiered" "self promoting" and "goal oriented structure" DO NOT tell yourself you will do well and earn your pay. Because the truth is, you have ZERO control over what you see in your paycheck. You will work way over 50 hours a week and nothing you can change or prioritize will change the percent to goal you are or how much money you see in your paycheck. On top of that, even if you do reach your goals, your total pay is at least 15k less than the MINIMUM for the industry. PTO: this is simple, it doesn't exist. I worked at the company for 16 months and the only way to take a day "off" was to do the same amount of work the week before in order to be able to prep for it. It became easier to just work the day than take it off. Culture: If you do not drink the kool-aid, you are an outsider. I never met one person outside of leadership who didn't totally fake their buy-in on team meetings or company calls and then having side conversations about how much they hate it, didn't buy the culture and how unhappy they are. They are not a family unless you are in the leadership or management circle. You will be literally lied too about your growth, your paycheck and your future at this company and you will feel trapped to continue to tolerate it while leadership tells you to your face "we are working on it! we want you to be happy here" and doesn't care that you cannot afford your bills and are constantly drowning in work you didn't sign up for (as long as you continue to put in insane hours). Job description: you will be hired to do a job, most of the time that doesn't even have a job description, but you will be doing whatever the company needs you to do to help them best - regardless of your own career path and skills. And, you will be looked at badly when you don't perform those tasks at the level they want. Most of what you do will have no structure, no plan and you may have never even done it before. Within 2 weeks of leaving this company I was financially stable again, happy and mentally sound. I had no idea the level to which it was hitting my life until I walked away. Take "agency culture" and multiply it by 20 and that's what you will get by joining this team. I have worked for 2 other agencies and I have never seen anything like this. Do not be fooled by dogs, coffee, lake side, presidents club or anything else they try to impress you with - it really is that bad. Teammates have started writing these reviews in order to insist change, and all leadership has done is refuse to be honest and have their own circle write positive reviews to push the negative ones down on the page. People are leaving this company at a RAPID rate right now, and you will be hired to fill those holes which will make your experience even worse due to internal employee stress and more people leaving everyday. There are a million other agencies out there, even HubSpot ones, that you can go to who will at the very least - care about your well being, I cannot encourage you enough to walk away from this place as it is a toxic situation that will quite literally take over your entire life. Leadership does not care what happens to employees here at all while they drive their Teslas, go on vacations and sit on their thrones -- do not let them fool you into thinking this is a healthy environment. Leadership won't even speak to employees about these reviews they are pretending it isn't happening. Zero transparency. Contaminated stormwater and wastewater are often discharged in these areas, and people can get either sick or rashes when going in the water. Coffee in the office; though I would imagine this is a relatively common occurrence for the American workplace. So many current and past employees shared their concerns publicly on Glassdoor, and yet Leadership's only somewhat-of-a-response was essentially, "we had a fireside chat and there's nothing we're going to do to accommodate the issues at hand". The issues overall are inadequate pay, false PTO which actually cuts into your paycheck as opposed to provides you with work-life-balance, too many clients - not all best fit- for the Service Team, no bonus pay in the best revenue year, and an outdated "billable" system developed for a novice company in scale-up mode, which New Breed is not, considering the 8+ years of experience, 100 or so employees, and established business processes. New Breed's response is always "I think we can all agree, working with amazing people is certainly a positive working at New Breed". Let's dissect this. First, there's no acknowledgement of the issue at hand. It's avoiding the problem, at best. If New Breed truly believed its employees were "amazing" as they claim, they would listen to them, apologize for their actions, implement a plan for change, and ultimately pay them the salaries that they deserve. The most recent comment was by a Growth Strategist currently working at New Breed, whom most likely is within the inner circle; whose Review most likely held the only intention to save reputation and increase the number of stars on this site. I so highly recommend not working for this company because it's not only a waste of time, it's just pure toxicity. There are many other job opportunities in the space, and even in Burlington VT. The top talent & most hard-working employees hardly ever see a "tier" or annual raise because they're overworked in "non-billable" work, which includes internal improvements to the company or continued education & training. And, if by the lucky chance you do get billable work in, projects do not close monthly and often go past the deadline; so, not only do you receive an industry-low for salary, the glamorous & promised "additions" to your paycheck are almost completely out of reach. Of course, you'd believe this billable-system transcends throughout the company; but of course, it does not. Especially for Leadership. And they'll talk about their 2 boats, teslas, and horses at the Thanksgiving Dinner while you're struggling to pay your rent. Because the Sales Team is also positioned to close as many deals as possible, not those which are the most qualified in terms of client-fit (though the fundamental component of the business is Lifecycle Stage Funnel Management & Marketing to Sales Alignment), Strategists & Service Members are completely overwhelmed by the number of clients they serve, as well as outrageously stressed by the fact that the majority of the Clients are a challenge to successfully accommodate. Sales makes a bountiful number of promises- never fully outlined in the contract - rendering the Service experience quite daunting and negatively impactful on closing projects; i.e. your salary. Not only are you unhappy serving your clients, but in the end, most clients churn or express extreme levels of displeasure, and some have even gone to the extent of threating legal action. The Culture presented & upheld mostly by the Leadership is flawlessly toxic. It requires a shut-mouth, a non-sharing of salaries, the smile and clap to generic jargon, and most prominently, it forbids any level of criticism. Multiple employees were threatened with layoffs for speaking up about discomfort in the work environment; many more were silenced. Even when the intention is purely designed to improve either the work-life balance or experience of the employees & overall company, speaking up about the wrong-doings or concerns always leaves you with a target on your back. At the end of the day, sure, it's an opportunity to get your foot in the door of everything digital marketing. But, it's not the only opportunity. There are 100s if not 1000s of Job Postings every single day across multiple platforms; and all of these Jobs most likely come with better pay, empathetic leadership, growth potential, beer on tap, and golf in the office. The biggest question to ask yourself, especially right after graduating college, is "What is my biggest goal in starting my career?". That was over a year ago; and still, nothing has changed. These were brought up to me in my first days from employees who were leaving, for the same reason: years ago, same issue, same response, no change, brutal leadership. - Tiered system is framed in the perspective of "competitive pay". Competitive with what exactly? Competitive with greed and ineptitude? With "Managers'" inability to do anything, no matter how much they say they support you? - Overworked and there's no overtime. It is illegal to not pay overtime in the state of Vermont, and yet Leadership has somehow managed to bend the laws - or avoid them - and don't compensate you for working yourself to complete burnout. The bonus for the best year ever (2020) in terms of revenue was a SWEATER. Not only is that outlandishly obnoxious, it paints the picture oh-so-perfectly for how Leadership views and exploits their employees. - Leadership's response to anything critical is either "oh wow you didn't have an amazing time??? how so very sad!!!" or, it's a threat to fire you; or sue you. It's the "you should smile more", the "you should not speak out against sexual discrimination on LinkedIn", the "when you talk about your concerns with the company, doesn't that sound like you're addressing "ME" directly?". -Your "culture" is blatant exploitation. Culture by definition is "the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively." New Breed's business model is completely consumed via HubSpot's pre-established structure and business; and since everyone is so overworked & underpaid, there's no room for creativity or improvement. You put young employees who just graduated college into Roles which require at least 3-5 years of experience; and although there's a mirage in being promoted so quickly, there's no just payment. -This is the worst company I have ever worked for and at first, I was grateful for the promised opportunities, dogs in the office, corporate retreat; but, as time went on, I realized it's all a scam. A "drink the koolaide", if you will. Leadership has responded to the concerns on Glassdoor with re-writing the few positive mentions as a way to protect and boost their reputation, and it's doubtful they will ever pursue any level of change. These responses often push back with "Our company is in scale up mode and/or we're a start up, so we have to be pushed harder to grow", and rarely acknowledge the actual issues. By definition, "when a startup has found a business model and a product that is right for the market, it stops being a startup and graduates to an enterprise." You had over 10M in revenue last year; you have around 100 employees; and you've been in partnership/business with HubSpot for almost 10 years. Continuing to push the "start-up, growth" narrative is outdated and points exactly to the core of the problem: you'll never change. Don't waste your time with these people.
