Mission is great, work is fulfilling. Good time off benefits. Low pay, few opportunities for advancement are just the first issues here. Management is full of favoritism and totally disorganized. Good luck advancing in your career here, especially with how much work the disorganized culture will have falling on your head. Unpaid overtime is common, and almost every other week you get another email about some other member of the staff leaving. Amount of vacation days you get. This place is a great stepping stone but you can’t stay after a year or two. Directors and Executive director are the ones that never take the blame for anything. This organization has potential and needs a major clean up. The board of directors must step in and remove ED and all the directors from each department because it is not fair that they are the only ones that get raises every year. They always say it’s non profit but we know that when we meet our milestones and getting additional funding from our funders, it always goes to upper management. They say they are about the community but in reality they all about getting funding. They prefer letting an excellent employee leave due to low pay and getting a new employee with no experience and paying them low $30k with a bachelors degree. The managers are friendly and welcoming, and the staff as a whole is extremely passionate about their work. NMIC is a small org, but it packs a big punch and offers tons of services to the people in Washington Heights and the Bronx. Programs can sometimes be disorganized, both in logistics and operations. While many non-profits are often restricted by funding, it always seemed like NMIC struggled a little more than others.
