It’s a small hospital

It’s a nice place to work as a Physician Assistant. It’s recognizing Physician Assistant more than before from my experience. The pay is reasonable but not as much as other NYC hospital pays.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The ancillary staff and RNs were fantastic to work with. The administration is terrible - low pay, over time not paid for, no consideration for the providers
What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Administration doesn't care about the providers. Pay is low, over time is scheduled without compensation. When I questioned the 40 + extra hours a month I was scheduled for without my consent I was tole that I " needed to be a professional"

Evolving in the wrong way....
|
It is very difficult to admit this, but Northwell is evolving into a very "transitional" place to work. The fear of losing your job is rampant since the series of layoffs that took place several months back. Managers are terrified, staff are terrified and it makes it very difficult to feel stable or to seriously devote oneself to Northwell's goals. Many of those in management operate with a sense of panic due to the situation that was created when several hundred team members, some with decades of experience, were abruptly terminated in late 2023. The entire organization is currently undergoing some form of cultural shock. It appears to be transitioning into a place where valuable staff are as likely to be eliminated as those who might have very little time with the company. As I mentioned, it has become a very transitional place with regard to culture. Personally, I have close friends who were employees of North Shore-LIJ for many years who have admitted that they feel the same way. It's quite sad to observe a once great institution become hollowed out in this way. I deeply hope that senior leadership can effect a course correction soon before a formerly great company becomes the Burger King of healthcare.
