This is a place that encourages and welcomes new ideas. Everyone here is committed to the organization's mission and works hard. It is a very supportive and respectful environment. The small staff means that sometimes we each have a heavy workload. But when that happens, because we are a supportive group, co-workers inevitably pitch in to support others when they can. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 0.0 4.0 5.0 5.0 0.0 4.0 5.0 1004110 Open 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 2.0 Mar 27th, 2021 07:38PM Mar 27th, 2021 07:38PM NYC Leadership Academy

private:nycleadershipacademy-2 https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1004110 Sep 23rd, 2015 12:00AM Open Open NYC Leadership Academy United States USA Lacking in Leadership.... There are many wonderful, smart, dedicated staff members at the organization, who are there to really support students and schools. There's almost zero investment in internal staff with very little chance for advancement. The top level of the organization seems to be completely uninterested in involving others in decision making - or even sharing basic information about the organization with staff members. While the organization advocates for distributing leadership with it's clients and the leaders that it works with, it does nothing to accomplish this internally. Change (if it happens at all) is painfully slow and communication stilted. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE 1.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 3.0 1.0 1004110 Open People don't trust the senior leadership of the organization so in many cases are not telling you the things that you need to hear for fear of your reaction. You need to start listening to people and trusting your staff. 0.0 [] No Yes 0.0 Mar 27th, 2021 07:38PM Mar 27th, 2021 07:38PM NYC Leadership Academy
private:nycleadershipacademy-2 https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1004110 May 27th, 2015 12:00AM Open Open NYC Leadership Academy United States USA NYCLA / NYC Leadership Academy Good work/life balance as far as time spent in the office. Good benefits package (time off/healthcare). By and large, most of the employees are very kind people. The organization is very top heavy. This becomes problematic because there is almost no diversity at the senior level. The result is a very insular culture with a narrow-minded approach to challenges. Most employees will reject any ideas or tasks that disrupt their daily routine, even if it would provide huge benefits to the organization. Very little emphasis placed on the mission of the organization via the day-to-day work. Those with a passion for helping students should look elsewhere. Recognition is almost never given for any accomplishments. If you want an organization that invests in its employees career growth or personal growth, NYCLA is not for you. Over time, this grinds employee morale. No accountability is held for deliverables. So when something goes wrong, blame is passed down the totem pole. Team meetings are poorly run and result in no clear next steps. Some mid-level and senior-level managers adopt an approach of being dishonest in their interactions regarding work issues. The rationale is that they are withholding information to protect the organization. The actual result is frustration. Departments interact with each other very little. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 1.0 1.0 3.0 1.0 1.0 3.0 2.0 1004110 Open Make a concerted effort to ensure you are hiring the people who can provide the most benefit to NYCLA's growth. The trend has been to hire people based almost solely on personality fit. Fixing the lethargic culture would require a drastic overhaul in staff. I don't believe it can be done. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 0.0 Mar 27th, 2021 07:38PM Mar 27th, 2021 07:38PM NYC Leadership Academy
