Like everywhere else there is ups and downs. But overall good company. Family oriented sometimes upper management is disconnected but the supervisors / managers at location are usually spot on because they know what’s going on. Sometimes business levels can fluctuate so if you get use to a lot of hours or miles that can change leaving you wanting more.

Not a bad place to work, alot of good people onboard.
|
Typical day consisted of showing up at start time for linehaul extra board, pre-trip the truck and trailers, run a route(usually to Portland Or) hauling doubles/triples. Good pay, decent medical, the dental benefits weren't that great.
The company made an effort to give quarterly profit sharing bonuses and annual pay raise.
OHFL provides uniform shorts, employee appreciation weeks where they provide a good meal daily for a week, decent pay, equipment wasn't the best at times, but management did make an effort to get it serviced or repaired in an efficient manner.
I'd probably go back to OHFL one of these days if the right position or opportunity opened up.

I absolutely loved my job at Oak Harbor Freight Lines and I enjoyed working with my coworkers, especially my supervisor. He was great and taught me a lot.
I regrettably had to quit after being passed over for promotion after doing the work of it for six months (unofficially) after promises of being promoted. I was told I would be promoted by my work anniversary. I found out on said date that I would not be promoted and instead the job would be delegated to everyone. Which I knew after talking to my coworkers would not work, the job I was doing no one wanted. Managers knew this.
I would often butt heads with the ops manager and for years it felt like he never wanted me to advance no matter how much my supervisor helped and no matter how hard I worked.
Again, I deeply loved this job and thoroughly enjoyed my 3 years with the company. But I couldn't be passed over so many times after working hard for broken promises. I was great at my job and I thank my supervisor for teaching me everything. It deeply upset me to leave but I couldn't continue to be used.

Terrible manager; Childish co-workers

Wouldn't recommend working here to my worst enemy. Never in my years have I worked a job where you can tell without a doubt that the managers don't care about you at all whatsoever. Drivers who complain about every pallet that's slightly outta place. Grown men who work there acting like children and management doesn't even know how to communicate amongst themselves to solve a problem. Leads and supervisors who will talk about you behind your back. Absolutely insane.

They upgraded all the equipment (aside from a few old janky forklifts) . Corporate is pretty good about sending mechanics to fix all the broken stuff though .

Good pay dispatcher was a jerk.

No two days are ever the same. Job was okay equipment varied many drivers bring inoperable equipment for handoff as this is a relay point. I have never been towed so much as this job due to break downs.
