Solid place to have a big impact
Smaller organization than other IC elements, so can have less opportunities, but horizontal growth options are richly available
Same issues that many other government agencies have

I like the stability of working for the US Federal Government and the long term employment it can provide so long as a government employee gets a successful annual performance rating.
Work is done in a classified environment and the employee may not talk about their work outside of classified offices.

Be upfront and provide feedback immediately instead of when-as I personally have done with at least one supervisor-asked for feedback and found out on an annual performance review that same supervisor had made negative comments in one area about my performance with out giving me a chance to correct it.

Not impressed
You don't have to work hard if you don't want to. It's easy to get a GS-15.
The DNI writes policies about policies that no one in the Intelligence Community wants to follow or cares about. Many of the people are there because they failed in their previous positions. If you want to work hard and are invested in the mission, this is not the place to be.

Bureaucratic, but a great place to work
The ODNI is at the heart of IC bureaucracy, but that is only be expected for an organization charged with managing the intelligence community. The employees are extremely professional, committed to the mission, and hard-working.
Some part of the organization are still inherited from its initial establishment, which doesn't make the ODNI exactly streamlined.

ODNI
Gives you insight into the entire Intelligence Community and opens up a lot of opportunities throughout the USG. I recommend that everybody who has worked for another Agency inside the intelligence Community do at least one rotational assignment with ODNI
Some of the workforce needs practical skills level experience. Those who have only worked in the ODNI need to get experience in a line Agency.

Encourage cadre officers to take rotational assignments outside ODNI and do a greater job of demonstrating to those outside the ODNI, the value of taking an ODNI assignment. It was one of the best things I did.
