Though the job itself may be fun and fulfilling, there is absolutely no room for growth and decent pay raises are non-existent. New people coming in make a lot more money and are afforded higher titles than those already there because no one would apply for a job there if they tried to pay the same rate as their current employees, but they never offer the loyal employees those rates. The time you spend there does not count as experience. You have to bring experience from outside or you are ineligible for promotion no matter your level of education. As a result, they have a lot of part-time hourly employees that are there for added pocket money, but have no commitment to the school, and there is a high turnover. The place is top heavy. Too many managers that are making salaries and those managers have assistants who are also salaried, but nobody seems capable of doing a decent job. They have a non-caring attitude and most of the time don't seem to have a clue what is going on. If you plan to hire on for a year or less, great. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and find a job elsewhere. Teaching was very rewarding and some of the students were inspirational. This job keeps me on my toes. I have been able to expand my knowledge of Accounting, Microsoft Word and Excel with the training of my supervisor. All the while I am continually interacting with new students who are excited to start their college education. The school likes the money but has little concern about the learning of the students.
