OKRP has many talented employees working there who are friendly and fun to collaborate with. Working for an owner-run agency is hard, because ultimately every single decision is made by the two partners who started the agency - they solicit ideas and opinions from others in management on how to run things, but rarely listen to any of these opinions or ideas, and if your values are at odds with theirs you will be sidelined for it. And while OKRP talks a big game about diversity, women or POC in leadership positions never last very long. Turnover in creative leadership is pretty high in general. People burn out within a few years max and some are just quietly fired with little-to-no explanation. That's basically about it. Communication skills for high-level management needs a lot of work. Managers are almost adversarial with their juniors - if they mess up, it gets pinned on the juniors - even if it means lying. Management and HR are always telling employees to voice their honest opinions and offer suggestions, but they're offended by every suggestion. Best thing about the company is they don’t believe the best talent lives within its four walls, they are solutions oriented, always bringing in the best partners to provide opportunities for our clients and employees. Every idea is challenged in a healthy way, with a goal of defining the viability of an idea with a clear path to execution. Very generous comp and benefits unlike other agencies in Chicago. Not held to salary bands or maximums like holding companies. Growth opportunities under the best Creative and Account leaders. Work will be challenging and resourceful self-starters will thrive. I know because I've worked at most of them so back off! I used to spend Sunday nights full of dread thinking about going into the work week at another creative wasteland. Then OKRP was like “Hey, it doesn’t have to be like that. Come hang out with us.” Cut to me running into their loving arms and never looking back. Here’s why I like working here: • Creative led agency • I feel creatively challenged and not dead inside • Genuinely look forward to coming into work every day • Lots of support from strategy, account and management. Everyone is working together to sell in and make the best creative possible • The people that work here are rare and magnificent.
