You can talk to a lot of interesting people but ultimately your dials, talk time, and percentage is what matters. Not quality. It’s a good into to CRMs like salesforce and coworkers are nice. You are over worked. The company likes to believe it’s fitting perspective students with schools and making a difference because of the nursing shortage but anyone who fit basic criteria qualifies. Even when an admissions counselor doesn’t think a student would be a good fit you need to push past for your numbers. Trying to build meaningful relationships with students is difficult with the number of other responsibilities placed on the team. You are supposed to sell the program, prerequisite courses, and make sure that students not only get into the program and start the program. If not, that’s your fault. If adults who want to be nurses can’t figure out how to secure funding when you make it clear it’s an absurdly expensive program and you do your job to get them qualified I’m not sure how that’s my failure. Sell prerequisites that are reasonably priced. Don’t set your dashboard numbers so high that you have quality over quality. The call structure is ridiculous - no one wants to have 10 calls a week. There are a bunch of motivated people, but the top level of leadership doesn't' seem to know how to lead or what their strategy is. Our team's supportive and I can get help from anybody. Managers work next to you. I've had my manager's manager work with us to help if we need help. I feel like the people on my team care about me. They're looking at the future not the past. Some people don't want to change with the company. They've said management is bad, because they're stuck in the past and want to blame someone. The con isn't the managers, it's those people. Wish they'd leave. My managers have been supportive. Half day on Fridays. Little pay. Management is toxic and belittles you. Nowhere to direct grievances to. Admissions has the highest turnover rate out of any department there. And there's a reason for that. Micromanagingg occurs every day. Expectations change every other day and there is a crazy amount of pressure to hit your dials, talk time and other goals, which are nigh impossible to reach. No support from management or higher ups. Its full of questionable practices. Managers speak poorly of the partnered universities and students who are paying for an extremely expensive low quality program. This place is all about numbers. How many students get enrolled. There is no concern on the quality of courses or services this company provides. Most people are miserable and on the way out the door. The positive reviews on all sites are from the management team directly. Instead of working on fixing internal issues they prefer to write fake reviews. The management is not qualified. My review is more holistic than a "pros and cons" kind of thing, so I guess I'll just put it all into this box. It would seem that there are two experiences of Orbis. Some people love it and want to stay forever. That was certainly the experience I wanted to have, but didn’t. Others are left with a very negative impression, and it’s validating to see that I’m not the only one. Don't be swayed by posts singing the praises of the volunteer DEI council. While some may sincerely believe these kinds of committees are meaningful, they are literally laughed at by qualified DEI professionals. At best, they are very minimal efforts at increasing diversity, equity and inclusion. But often, they’re a deliberate attempt to quiet down marginalized employees and boost the company image while continuing to maintain the status quo at no cost. If you identify as someone with a disability, know right away that this may not be a welcoming environment for you. I imagine the case may be the same for other minority groups. In the entire company, I ran across two openly gay people, no one who was openly bisexual, and no one who was openly transgender, nonbinary or otherwise gender non-conforming. Our team of 30-ish full time employees was almost 100% white. This was true even for the remote hires (which was eventually everyone). The majority of people were also married in two-income households, 30s to 40s, and had children. DEI is by no means the only issue. I still find myself wanting to believe the best of Orbis, but I struggle to do that based on what I saw there towards the end. It was never very diverse, and I always felt that, but I still remember working here when it was at least friendly and honest. In the old office, we all ate lunch at the back table. I had an amazing mentor whom I valued greatly. I learned a lot from the role and had lovely coworkers. It was a nice place to work until about mid 2020, at which point the overall atmosphere really changed. It seemed like the harder I worked, the more I was told I wasn't doing enough. There was a lot of micromanaging, it was difficult to understand expectations, and I started to see things I didn't feel good about. In one particular example, someone at the director level invited me to read a book with him as a fun activity. He assured me that I was free to say no, offered to order both the books, and gave absolutely no indication that this was a corrective measure. I thought it would be enjoyable, so I accepted the invitation. But instead of following through, he either asked or allowed someone underneath him to roll this book into a performance plan, and never gave me any kind of apology or even explanation. As a result, I didn't know if the alleged concerns with my performance were true or not. So I really can’t even say that I learned or grew from the experience. In another example, a different manager was continually misrepresenting her own work as mine or claiming I worked on things I didn't. Both of these people were paid a lot more than I was. Some people believe that things will get better with time, and they might. I would be glad to see a return to integrity for Orbis. I know from reading publicly available information that GCE plans to continue its rapid expansion of Orbis until there are at least 80 partners. So just know, if you're planning to come on board here, that this is a company that will continue to get bigger and bigger very quickly. You may find that exciting. For me, it was overwhelming. Some people see it as innovative; to me, it was not nearly progressive enough. I have a very high standard for honesty and really can't tolerate even the smallest little "white lies," much less anything more egregious than that. Your mileage may vary. It didn't work out for me, but might for someone else.
