You can make a killing working here in sales

If you have any kind of previous sales experience and know how to talk people into purchasing things they already wanted to buy anyways, this can be an extremely lucrative position! I’m not sure I would recommend it to newbies, but for those with experience the sky is the limit!

Training isn’t great – which is also why I wouldn’t say it’s a great opportunity for those without previous sales experience.

Think about the future of retail and how you will be able to keep up. Take care of your sales people. Don't play favorites. We see through it. You pick one person to give sales and then every few months move on to the next sales person like a carousel so everyone else is consistently asking for your approval to be the "next guy". General Manager at my store was more interested in making a local celebrity out of himself than to actually lead a store.

It’s crazy to think that just a few decades ago this would have been the norm, but now it’s something to celebrate in a company. I think it’s sad that the bar has fallen so low, but I still appreciate working for a company that gives ALL of its employees the major holidays off of work. Holidays are for family, not consumerism. We have every other day of the year to participate in our consumerist culture…. Christmas (and Thanksgiving and Easter) shouldn’t be one of them!

Even though the company has over 65 stores in several different states and is a major competitor of Best Buy on the east coast, they’ve managed to stay true to their humble beginnings. Every employee is taught the history of Peter Richard’s vision and his family is still heavily involved in all of the day-to-day activities.

The environment in-store is very relaxed. Management doesn’t hover or constantly check up on employees to make sure we’re on task. It’s a completely different vibe from my last retail job and I’ve got to say it makes a 300% difference in my stress levels.

If you’re no good at sales you won’t last long. My advice: don’t apply for a job you aren’t qualified for.
