Great workplace

Great work environment with wonderful people. Adapted well with the Covid-19 crisis in getting us setup to work from home. The work can be challenging but also rewarding as well!

This company has a great culture, they truly care about the people who work for them. There is so many opportunities for advancement in the company, management is wonderful, and the benefits are great!

Great Benefits
Has great benefits & responded quickly to COVID by allowing us to work from home. The starting pay is good, but you only get a small raise each year (about 50 cents an hour). They laid off 300 people out of the blue in November 2020 which makes the rest of us nervous. It's kind of rocky at the moment. Just hoping the company bounces back. I will also say moving up internally, even before COVID, rarely happened.

Excellent people, benefits but lacking in communication at times
I loved working at Pacific LIfe for close to seventeen years. I was among hundreds of employees to have been laid off due to the global pandemic.
I have come to grow close to its employees as if they were family. The benefits and salary were very competitive. I was very sorry to have left but understood the predicament due to COVID-19.

The satellite office may operate differently from the main office, not sure. Super work environment. Excellent travel with or without sales quota. Wish I was back!

Not for IT Workers
By now, anyone who has looked into them knows about this companies disdain for IT. It is seen as a nuisance and not a partner, hence their efforts to outsource as much IT staff as possible (except for management of course). They've laid-off almost 400 people in the last year
Look it up... no need for me to go into it.
Nice location I guess... Good severance packages

Losing its focus on family - very focused on $
Overall a good company. There has been a recent push to reduce expenses which comes at the cost of cutting staff. Work is being outsourced to help with that budget savings on payroll expenses.
Company events, good response to pandemic allowing most staff to work from home. Most of the people are friendly.
Job security, budget cuts, outscourcing work, some areas work on company holidays if the stock market is open.

Conservative culture
My experience here was very positive. They pay you well enough for what you are doing. If you are in customer service it is really hard to move out. I would definitely recommend working for them.
Nice people, professional environment

Little support training does not prepare you for the job
Working at Pacific Life is a setup for failure. The training does not set you up for success. There is so much to learn at the company that it’s impossible to learn doing training. I have seen people with the company for 3 years and still doesn’t know their job. They change the procedures and how to process your work daily or either weekly. If you don’t remember the changes immediately you get an error and then it can lead to you getting wrote up. They also doesn’t offer more training to help you feel more successful. This job is very mentally exhausting and stressful. If you value your mental health this is not the job for you. You have weekly meetings with your supervisor who goes over your job performance and their production expectations. So stressful and you feel overwhelmed.

Technology changes of size and magnitude
Sweeping layoffs on the horizon for Technology employees. Use caution if considering a position in IT. More American jobs being lost to overseas contractors.
We had an year and a half advance notice that layoffs were coming. That was great for morale.
Very poor communication from all levels of Management and HR.
