They have given no reassurances that we will not be laid off in this pandemic. Management Upper management needs a serious evaluation Culture Collaboration with my colleagues at Page One Power is normal Overall My experience working at Page One Power is that they appear to be less ethical than what they originally were. Some people are treated as pets and get preffered treatments. Now they only give raises to their pets and keep everyone else at the bottom of the market. With that being said there are some things I and my team would certainly like changed and unfortunately are not being heard. P1P goes overboard on "culture" to the point where we feel like we aren't doing our jobs or aren't good employees if we don't participate. For an example there is about 8 different things going on for Halloween...just choose 1 simple short activity and not remind us every single day about it. We are in the midst of a very serious pandemic and people are struggling to keep their families and partners cared for and balancing work on top of it and the constant prodding to socialize with co workers is out of place. Most of us really really do not like this. If I quit tomorrow I would make more money on unemployment and medicaid by several hundred dollars a month. I don't want to do that but my spouse lost their job and I can't afford to feed my family on my own. You can look up the average pay for any position in our city and our company doesn't even come close to meeting average wages. Then as an extra slap in the face they are donating thousands to charities each month while their own employees are suffering. They are nice people, but their heads are in the clouds. They obviously care more about the appearance that they are a company of good will and integrity but how can that be when they don't provide for their own? The only two issues I had were text book micromanagement which I can handle ok. The biggest issue, and I am not alone in this, is the fact they do not keep up to date with wage standards for the area or what their direct competitors are paying. This makes it difficult to stay with the company when there isn't incentive beyond working in a pretty office. If they put as much effort into appearances as they did employees they may have a greater success with their people. I recently took another, completely lateral position and I have a 6 dollar hourly wage increase and pay half of insurance premium I was paying with page one. They should know that especially in this time of need, it would be insane to turn down such offers. I hope it gets better for people who still work there because they are truly a wonderful group of people. However they have yet to consider watering their own backyard. I would say the majority of my fellow employees make under 19.00 an hour. I have coworkers that are struggling to make their Bill's due to a loss of work in their household and the price of food skyrocketing.. Page One Power should be taking at least half of the money they have been donating and spreading it across to their employees. Take care of your own first. Not everyone requires socializing every hour to be happy in their work place, we have friends and family at home for that and no one should be imposed upon to be a social butterfly when they aren't one, it is a literal right violation. Secondly there is a virus that is killing people. At this point people should have the option of working fully remote,if equipped to do so. I thought this company would have a much lesser boomer approach than what has been happening lately. Their insurance costs are way high. The wages are below average and by the time you pay for insurance you might as well be making 3-5 dollars less an hour. The attitude is combative. There is no direction and only snarkiness and riddles to solve when you have questions or don't do something right the first time. Given the lack of training and direction and the insanely idiotic article briefs, questions are all you have sometimes. The work is meaningless. It's always been meaningless, only now they cut the pay in half since I left, which is probably why I see them popping up all over the internet. If you're into low pay, terrible work, and a constant Us vs. Them mentality, you'll probably love it. They have more contract writers than work and falsely advertise you can make over 30k a year after they make you take a writing test and interview. There is no way to know when anything is updated and the articles are usually taken in seconds. They literally have no standards for writers, so when you make a mistake the comments are posted on a public work board, and you may not get paid. New editors are on a power trip, refusing to answer questions and really do not seem experienced in the real world to edit what they work on. Literally zero experience in how to develop an article. If you are looking for experienced staff from human resources, editors and managers who know how to manage and have writer standards- do not work for them. Work was interesting and the pay isn't bad but turnaround time is very restrictive. Micromanages writers without clear direction. Allowed writers to hoard assignments so available work was limited, which led to a change in deadline.
