|
Company provides mediocre training, pushes you to rush to get more done, then punishes you when you inevetibly make a mistake while trying to hurry. I was fired for not inventorying a part that was in a wrecked area of the car, so I question their integrity when it comes to the parts they sell, as well.

The job itself is not bad. The day goes by fast and you constantly have goals to achieve. Mostly friendly coworkers to be around, all ready to help out if you need it. Management and constant micromanagement is the part that makes it a more negative environment. If they lose money on a vehicle, they take it out on you. If you make one mistake, they will act like it's been an issue for a long time.

My overall experience at Pam's was positive with a few hiccups.
If you prove yourself and make it through the year probation you have plenty of opportunity to make good money as long as you're motivated. Its hard and stressful work. You will do boring/monotonous work for the first few months of the training process. After probation its piece rate pay not hourly.
Great co workers, helpful and friendly for the most part. It made the bad/chaotic days a lot easier to get through. Once day to day duties were shifted from the assistant manager to manager of QA things ran much more efficiently. Only wish the change would've been made sooner.
PROS
Rewarded handsomely if willing to work hard. They expect a lot out of you.
Flexible with time off even as a new hire, you get paid for it but they give you plenty of time off if something comes up.
No weekends
Coworkers are good people, most are willing to help. You can tell they're used to high turnover though.
Owners of PAM's are nice and approachable.
CONS
Hard and greasy work, if you don't like that. Don't waste your or their time.
Cold in the winter, hot in the summer. Main warehouse is climate controlled which was a nice surprise.
9 1/2 hour days with only half hour unpaid break. Only department at PAM's that doesn't leave on time if end of the day work is not done by 5 15.
Micromanagement runs rampant throughout PAMs. If you're used to independently working, you'll struggle.
They preach a family atmosphere at PAM's and I wouldn't disagree with that but there are tiers to that family. QA department would be on the bottom rung of said tiers.
Overall, I don't regret my time here at PAM's. Met some great people, made some nice paychecks.

Not a day goes by that PAM's Auto isn't looking at what they can do to improve the company. This is a good place to work if you enjoy being part of a fast paced crew constantly trying to better themselves. The management is organized and efficient with many years of experience and lots of knowledge to learn from. I enjoy that there is always something to do and you don't spend the days watching the clock.

Employee really lifted me up when I was down on my luck.

This is a fast paced work place which I loved. I'm a hard worker and hard work doesn't scare me. It took me awhile to learn things because I'm a little slower but my manager was very patience with me. He said that I could do it and I did most days. I worked here three years and most of the people I worked with were great. I've never worked anywhere that all people were great and this was no different. although there wasn't anyone real bad, like the one job I have now. I like that they enforce a drug-free policy. most places have a policy but don't enforce, and I like the safe work environment here. My current job have guys trying to sell me drugs everyday and I hate my current job. I miss working at PAMS. When I was there my boy got hurt and at the same time my wife lost her job. They borrowed me money to help make ends meet, no questions asked. I will remember this forever because it meant the world to my family. I left because my wife wanted to move out state to be closer to her parents because they are getting older and are sick. I hope we can move back one day and I hope I can work here again. I've never had an employer that treated me like family until I worked at PAMS.

Hard work, I liked this but I think most people don't want to work, people would complain about having to work hard.
