They have high standards for themselves but are not competitive with each other. | Smart colleagues, happy users, viable business model that's not based on ads | It's been a process of rebuilding the platform to work in a mobile context, but we're there | 0.0 | 0.0 | 5.0 | 5.0 | 5.0 | 5.0 | 5.0 | 5.0 | Jan 27th, 2021 09:06PM | Mar 19th, 2021 08:24PM | Paperless Post

private:paperlesspost | https://www.indeed.com/cmp/paperless-post/reviews | Oct 4th, 2017 12:00AM | Open | Open | Open | Paperless Post | Photography Editor | New York, NY | USA | Uncertainty | Good stuff: - Generous PTO and benefits package - Office space is comfortable and well stocked with new technology and snacks. - Demeanor is generally amicable and positive, and the majority of employees across all teams are friendly and relatively young, which is a perk for any prospective hires looking for relate-able and smart coworkers. - Paperless has collected some extremely talented people over the years and it can be very motivating to join and learn from them and see their talents in action. - Fun events, hosted speaking engagements and talks keep people engaged, and may provide opportunities for someone to make a few connections in their respective field outside of the company. Not-so-good-stuff: - Morale has been very low as a result of large and sudden layoffs. Having to say goodbye to talented friends was very hard. People continue to leave either from continued layoffs or voluntarily as a result of the lost sense of security or potential. Some felt betrayed by the effects of a... - Confusing strategic shift. Paperless is helmed by a tiny, isolated management group. They are all either friends from school or family. They are unaccountable, unrelatable to those other than themselves, and resort to using middle-tier roles as a buffer to communicate what are perceived as capricious project decisions. Changes to the company direction are sweeping and announced after the fact. - "Startup" vibe is gone, and the sense of explosive growth and challenging 'we can do it' attitude once shared by all has waned, replaced with fatigue from fear-of-being-downsized. Fewer people sense rewards in 'digging deep' or putting in the extra time as before. Fewer hope for raises or advancement. - Career advancement seems to have been a perennial challenge for the company. Systems are in place to 'look for' and discuss opportunities for advancement, but even team managers do not seem to know when opportunities for advancement will emerge, are unwilling or unable to plan out future roles. Too often, hopeful and competent employees are beat out by a shiny new hire. Maybe that new person will be you, but maybe that will happen to you. | benefits, compensation | uncertain job security, uncertain company health, uncertain career growth | 12.0 | 0.0 | 3.0 | 4.0 | 3.0 | 2.0 | 5.0 | 2.0 | Jan 27th, 2021 09:06PM | Mar 20th, 2021 02:10PM | Paperless Post

There seems to be a lack in a company wide strategy to figure out how to facilitate getting work done without endless meetings and an incredible amount of bureaucracy. Also there seems to be a hard disconnect between the site engineering floor and the business floor, and in general, a combative attitude from other developers. | Nice office | Team cliques | 5.0 | 0.0 | 2.0 | 3.0 | 1.0 | 1.0 | 3.0 | 1.0 | Jan 27th, 2021 09:06PM | Mar 20th, 2021 04:35PM | Paperless Post |
