This is an extremely abusive work environment. The owner publicly screams at, belittles and berates employees, most of the time in front of the entire company --on a daily basis. By all accounts, he enjoys it. There is no sales and marketing anymore - they all left. Raises and bonuses are non-existent, and health benefits got worse every year. The CommonSpot product had a lot of potential had the company not been so poorly managed. The owner of the company is in a constant state of barely contained seething rage and actively seeks out any employee on which he can unleash. Not a difficult boss situation but way beyond that to actually downright abusive. No career advancement opportunities. No pay raises. Benefits change to different medical insurance provider annually depending on who is cheaper and coverage expensive and not great. Pay well below industry standards. Don't interact with employees. Hire a competent and experienced manager and focus your attention instead on product development. Management rules through intimidation, in particular, the owner who will often lose his temper and yell at you in front of your peers. The rate of customer attrition is rapid. Poor sales, that are not due to Reps efforts. The owner chooses to bully and humiliate his employees in front of other staff. Staff are leaving due to rants, poor leadership, and volatility. There is a total lack of respect for employees. resulting in staff compliance without respect for the boss. Staff are not validated or valued. Training and support are lacking to non existent. The owner is an extreme micro manager. He calls people who are sick, keeping them on the phone for hours to make sure they are still doing as much work as they possibly can while sick. He sets arbitrary deadlines months too early, so that everyone is perpetually working in a high-stress "eleventh hour" crunch mode. He yells at someone (could be anyone) once a day on average, loud enough for everyone in the office to hear. There were always new challenges coming, with an interesting system in place that enables those challenges to be completed. The pay is well below industry average, and raises are unheard of. The customer community is pretty active and the professional services and account management teams take 'customer care' seriously. Good people Niche product built on Coldfusion. Being a small company, resources and funding were sometimes a challenge.
