The work is interesting and can be challenging. Despite being a larger company (compared to a start-up) everyone is able to make a direct, visible impact in the final product. There is also no shortage of well experienced senior engineers that offer tremendous learning opportunities for those who take advantage. Given the company's diverse product offerings you will have the opportunity to code in many different domains, and while there will always be some work maintaining existing products and doing incremental updates management is aggressive about exploring new avenues based on market research which keeps things new and exciting over the long term.
Great work/life balance.

The company has been around for 30-ish years and so naturally there is a lot of legacy code and a large codebase which can be daunting at first.

I'm a current employee and as of writing this, I've been here for 17 years. Many of the developers here have been here for at least a decade. Think about what it takes to keep software engineers at a place that long in this day and age.
1. Fantastic mentoring programs.
2. Company buys entire development team lunch everyday
3. Developers play board/card games during lunch time almost every day
4. Great company culture
5. Company has no debt, and that's in the corporate bylaws -- which means money isn't being wasted to service interest and loans.
6. Multinational company with a small company "feel" - We have offices all over the world, but any of us can walk into the CEO's office anytime we don't have to go through layers of bureaucracy and management. Very "flat" corporate structure.
7. Travel is possible and often encouraged.
8. VERY flexible scheduling and paid time off.
9. Working from home from time to time is possible.
10. Company sponsored and paid events, (happy hour, go-kart racing, ice-skating, etc).
11. 401(k) plan
12. Great health benefits
13. Other benefits, (discounts to concerts, attractions, theme parks, hotels, etc).

1. The newly remodeled development area is a big open area, it took me a while to adapt to this, I like a private office. May not be an issue for some.
2. Because of the lack of debt, the pay is slightly below market average -- but the company always has enough funds on hand to pay the payroll for 6 months. (That's also in the corporate bylaws.)

People here are really passionate about the work and products that the company offers. Therefore, there is a great deal of collaboration and teamwork that goes towards achieving company wide goals. I have not met anyone here who has the "its just a job" mentality.
