Very nice company and good EHS manager
|
I am the previous EHS engineer at PARC. Had numerous previous memories here. Miss everyone.
The company is surrounded by beautiful hills, you could see deers and bobcat if you're lucky. Everyone has their own office which is very rare amid Palo Alto companies. Most people are easy to work with and relationships are easy. My previous EHS manager is the most appreciate person. i learned a lot from him. But he left the company on 2019.

I enjoyed working at PARC since you learned something new every day. It was definitely challenging since the workplace culture embraced change all the while with having to meet monthly deadlines. There was constant change in accounting processes to improve efficiencies in our accounting procedures. The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with the Scientists who were doing cutting edge research to create new technologies and breakthroughs.

Headless managers and no growth
|
There are no rules and processes in the company as long as you praise the headless managers. Some of them are just grads from colleges and have no experience. They use people like dust in their plans.

Great office but some labs are terrible
|
e great thing: No cubicles, everyone is given a separate great room (even interns)
Some of the experimental labs are very good and they are doing good work. If you want to pursue experimental science, it is a good place.
The management is simply horrible. They are only interested in their own growth and they hardly give vision and direction to the employees. They never talk to them. You just have to tell them they are great and you feel wonderful that you are working for them, otherwise they will not promote you or show you the doors.
Salary is pathetic and increment does not depend on your contributions, but making headless chickens (managers) happy.
They will exploit to the maximum your visa position. For minor things such as books, new hard-drives etc, you have to please your boss for at-least one month. If he agrees, he will repeat often: See, how we care for you and we are making you happy.

Good office

One of the best offices. No Cubicles. There are no goals and scope for any promotion. However, the office place is good. Cafe is pretty bad, but nearby VMWare is good. Good view outside the office and you can see Cayotes very often.

There were no managers in the accounting department. None.
Translated: Payroll, AP, AR, GL - all are solo - you and the CFO on most issues.
It seemed that the only promotions were for the same person, twice. Rotating stock of recurring temps, no one sticks around for Ground Hogs Day.
