Everything! I could not be happier to work at such an incredible company. Not only is the culture awesome, but the product we sell is also amazing. You have freedom in your schedule and autonomy in your decisions. Management supports engineers to make the right decisions and gives them the freedom to implement their solutions. They have a roadmap that gives direction but they leave the implementation to the engineering team. The regular retreats keep you in touch with your colleagues and make it very much like a family, not in a creepy way. Meetings are kept to a minimum. Benefits are good and salary is competitive to major markets for a startup of a similar stage. Management is not looking for a quick exit but for delivering value for the customers. Working remotely as an engineer can be difficult but the team is adept at helping you get into the swing of things. Parse.ly offers a web analytics service that isn't dependent on selling personal data (it's all anonymized, and can't be distributed to third parties). Given the mess that is the Internet in 2018, it's crucial that we find ways to allow web publishers to understand content performance while not compromising the privacy of their readers. The technical side of the company, as well as a number of business employees, work remotely. For a certain personality, that can make for an isolating/lonely experience. Conversely, many (I think most) value the flexibility this setup offers. In part because of the changing business needs that come with any high-growth startup, establishing medium-/long-term career goals can be difficult for some people. You "choose" your hours. While there is a bit of a standard set of when you should be online, you never feel pressured to be in at the exact time every day. PTO is substantial, you never feel ashamed if you need to take legitimate sick or personal day. -Growth and Development: Team and Personal Goals are clear, once established it's up to you to accomplish them. There is no micro-managing, you're responsible for getting your work done. If you have an interest in a particular department, upper-management will always do their best to get you involved with a chance to eventually move. -Environment: I can't say enough about how great the people are here. Everyone is "we" before "me." People are always willing to lend a hand or walk you through something. Not to mention the office is great, located right in Midtown Manhattan. - Transparency: This one is a bit of a double-edged sword. While communication is excellent and the vision of the company is there, like every startup, there are and will be gaps that need to be bridged. Sometimes teams can be siloed, and it is hard to understand what everyone is working on. However, management knows of this and are working on processes to prevent this. Outside of that, there are no cons. Accepting this position has been of one my best career decisions. There is no such thing as the "Sunday scaries" here. I like going to work and enjoy what I do, even if I have a rough day.
