Great culture!
The work environment has evolved since the start of the company! Back in 2014-2015 this company was still getting off the ground. Today the Passare has been a place of stability. I work with friendly staff, fairly compensated, great benefits, and best of all is the company culture. People actually enjoy coming to work. This has made all the difference in how our customers are treated. Happy employees = happy customers. Strong grown has also allowed for us to grow the team. This has provided a great opportunity for advancement! Enjoy everything so far!
Some of the office furniture is outdated, although complete remodel to Steelcase in late 2017 is what I hear. Also, have to have a passion for the profession Passare serves. Funeral homes can be slow to move and change. Must be motivated to help change happen, which can be really frustrating at times.

Great Company to Work For
The work place environment is second to none that I have experienced. Everyone there finds a way to be approachable and get you into a great mood every morning.
Everywhere you turn others are ready to help you in troublesome areas of work and celebrate the better times.
The only con I can come up with after working for Passare for a little while now is the people are so outgoing that it can distract you at times. I always feel welcome to join into activities and events that sometimes I can fall behind in daily duties.

Great concept for business but
The people were great, the office was in a downtown SF skyscraper in the heart of the action (very modern, stocked kitchen) - felt like a real startup atmosphere full of young people, which was a direct contrast to the industry in which they worked. I thought working for a website that caters to EOL management would be a dire, depressing environment but it wasn't. Everyone there had a dark sense of humor and was able to have fun while working for a 'death app' as some called it. I enjoyed my time there.
After a big roll out and media attention, the site was apparently not pulling in a profit quickly enough. It seemed the powers that be could not wait for it to earn money so they reorganized and cut down the overhead pretty quickly. It was pretty shocking how fast the environment changed.

EOL industry is a huge one, they should be hitting it big with so little competition in their arena but they need to improve their website and business model and find a way to reach their audience with better marketing and advertising.

Interesting service in unique industry
Passare has a collaborative environment.
The management team reporting to the CEO was insightful.
The SaaS development process and model was well-managed.
The industry the company supports has been very slow to accept or embrace technology innovations, which has put a strain on the company's success to date.
The initial focus on social media was scatter-shot and not applicable to the market it serves.
Compensation is low, especially PTO and lack of 401k.
The board of directors is conservative for a start-up.

The CEO needs to build a positive, healthy culture and trust and listen to the management team and embrace ideas.
Hire sales staff that can close business and that understands the sales cycle.
Focus on creating environments that encourage positive engagement.
Understand needs of customers and build to them.

Amateur hour.
The old office was conveniently located, though like the team, the space and office culture was uninspired.
The hire-on "founders" had no domain experience, or any startup or product experience to speak of. C-level management generally dropped by the office before noon, yawned, and left by 2pm. VP's contributed nothing and mostly got in the way. Directors worked themselves into rabbit holes. The meeting culture was atrocious with full-day meetings to schedule future meetings being the norm.
Effectively 100% of the product, engineering, and design was off-shored, and in-office individuals consisted mainly of over-inflated titles. All interactions with the individual contributors was done sight-unseen, effectively circumventing any opportunity to build relationships with the people we worked with. No respect or recognition was ever given to the team.
Compensation at the individual contributor level were terrible, and benefits and equity are very poor (2 weeks PTO and stock option allocations in the hundreds). Ironically no retirement benefits were available. Management was over compensated and generally hired unqualified buddies to fill senior VP roles and above.

With the old senior management freshly routed by the new business owners, I encourage the team to focus on product, UX, and sales. The company was previously over funded and over leveraged, so go lean and build something users actually want. Only then will the business have a chance.

So much wasted potential
Office is in good location
Management doesn't have the talent to lead this startup to success. Passare would benefit greatly if a visionary was leading the company.
Compensation is the lowest I have seen in the Bay Area. This would be ok if the equity or benefits were good but unfortunately this is not true for this company.
Equity for the people that contributed the most to building the company was the lowest.
Benefits are paid for in full for employees but the plan provided is not as good as other companies in the area. PTO is pretty low at 2 weeks a year. No 401k.
Joining Passare as an software engineer means you take all the risk and long hours common with startups without the benefits of a good salary, fun atmosphere and equity in the company you are building. If you are considering a position at this company I would advise looking elsewhere. There are so many other startups out there that would value your effort and devotion more than Passare.
