This company says a lot about how much they want to be socially responsible but actions wise only the environment will get any attention. The flags in the windows look great but that's as far as the DC area Patagonia stores are going to go. There will be no activism hours for LGBTQ no profit work, I was told that explicitly.

Co-Workers are cool, but its definitely a click environment. If you don't fit in you will be asked to leave. Use a lot of temp workers to get around providing benefits, while totting how they are non corporate. Pay could leave a lot to be desired. Place is VERY political...and not just the environmental area. If you are conservative or middle ground politically you have been warned.

So disappointing

I thought it was going to be a great place to work - a retail store that was 'in business to save the home planet'. Truly what it is: all about the image they project. They are far left liberals who must cater to that agenda. The interview process is a joke. you are more likely to be asked about what animal you'd be if you could and why, than how much retail experience you have. This may sound quirky and cute, but it makes for staffing problems. In the six years I worked there we had as many managers. Six managers in six years. The employee contact number board was literally a white board - the turnover was so fast. People would come in hoping for advancement and career opportunities and they'd quickly see how oblivious to talent the management was. (PS, they usually already know who will be put into an open position and go through the interview process purely because they have to). The one thing I will hand them is that the health benefits are excellent. That is the one and only reason I stayed as long as I did. Very unhealthy work environment.

Good Work Life Balance and Benefits but Unclear Path Beyond
|
I really enjoyed my time working at Patagonia. The benefits are great and they have a ton of resources when it comes to inclusivity. My management is amazing and has always been supportive my current managers are so supportive. I haven't noticed store drama personally but the same people tend to always talk to each other. Unclear path forward as they don't brief you when your term is nearing an end and what is to be expected. Economy is taking it's hit on stores right now.

Really bad treating with employees, they don't appreciate hard working people who want to stay for long term! Management's behaviour, specifically General Manager and Store Manager, is not appropriate and creats toxic and unfair working environment full of lies. Management can be dishonest and treats staff poorly. Poor working conditions, and being spoken down to with disrespect and unkindness. Cutting down hours without any further notice. Firing people who did nothing wrong without giving no reason!
Patagonia store in Banff which is owned by Elements Outfitters has nothing to do with real Patagonia company and destroying the all Patagonia's culture. It's best if you stay away from this place and find somewhere that will treat you well and value you .
