Direct managers actively promote the growth of the team and maintain a supportive leadership approach with genuine care. They display a balance of leadership and empathy allowing full creative exploration. The lack of direction and incompetence at the leadership/senior management level is appalling and is the reason for the brands' decline. They prefer to hire external hires with "years of experience" because they think the current team is too young and they obviously do not believe in their talent and years of contribution (please remember that this is the team that brought us through acquisition). While these supposedly experienced hires can't even get basic tasks done, and barely knows anything about the brand or industry. Basic staff welfare has to be fought for and the department/person that oversees this has often passed insensitive remarks about the team that can be considered workplace bullying, not forgetting the constant lies! Prioritize, appreciate, and offer fair compensation to the team that matches up with industry standards, otherwise, they're going to run looking elsewhere and it'd be too late for you to regret. You're not going to be able to hire the same level of talent at this crappy pay you're offering them. For anyone who wants to work in a job where you are undervalued and underpaid the longer you stay with the company, this is for you! If I could sum up my experience here so far, it is a workplace with a toxic corporate mentality, exclusive cliques and gossiping, severely underpaid staff, and a leadership team that will outrightly show favoritism and contradict themselves daily. + The direct team is amazing, friendly and hardworking + Direct managers are helpful and shields the team from leadership toxic mentality + You get to have 50% off skincare in the employee benefit + Mental health days (which you will need a lot of, but you can't take them because your team is so small, taking it would mean making your own team mates suffer) - Cannot stress enough how underpaid you will be. BELOW market rates, people with lesser experience than you can be paid up to DOUBLE your salary for doing half the work - One particular department has made nasty, rude, and very very brand-reputation-endangering remarks about employees before. I shall not name the department but this is a department that is in charge of the company's wellbeing and payroll. This department has said to employees that they should be prepared to work overtime, while in the same breath, they will ask the same employees to practice work-life balance and to stop work at the right time. - Every manager, director, supervisor, leader, whatever you name it, every "leader" in the company is grossly overpaid, grossly incompetent, and they lack the forward-thinking mentality that a company like Paula's Choice needs. Older does not mean wiser. - It is unclear if employees are paid differently because of their age or for being too young, and even though this may not be something that has been said in the open, actions speak louder than words. - Singapore is one of the hardest cities to leave in with a low pay, and it doesn't seem like they take inflation or the rising cost of surviving here into consideration.
