As a part of Senior Management at first and then the creative team, this was a great experience. Pave taught me a lot, through peaks and troughs. The original idea (which I was a part of) to create a new way of financing talented individuals through "patronage style contracts) (i.e. ISAs or Equity share) spoke to many of our imaginations. It seemed like a fair way of doing things: for the past (wealthy successful people) to invest in the talents of tomorrow... The team and management showed a lot of tenacity, and perseverance. After the pivots, Pave ended up a much less innovative company than the original idea that failed to scale. Pave is NOT a good place to work. The company seriously lacks a vision and strategy and does not have the right management in place to run a company. The CEO has been unable to hire and obtain upper management positions (i.e. COO, CTO, CMO) for the past three years which is a testament to his incompetency on running a company. To make matters worse, the CEO hires his brother, who is even more under-qualified, to handle day-to-day operations. Two under-qualified people running a company is not a recipe for success. We have great music jamming most days, have team huddle-ups to make sure everyone's on the same page and understands our collective goals for the week. Managers are smart and experienced, and have a great vision for how the company can continue growing. Most start ups are a bit unstructured, and this is no different.
