You get to go to a gala and meet celebrities. Sometimes you get included on cool ideas. Working at pencils is a promise they have a culture of hiring a lot of interns to do a majority of the work and making you run around and get things done that should’ve been done by upper or senior management. Through my time working there I found myself working until about 7PM -8pm just to get things ready, and I felt very exploited as an intern. There was no guidance there was no training there was no mentor ship it was very much we have a lot of listings and calls for you to make and that’s it. Even though you work in the field that you applied for anyone in the office can can ask you to do anything. During gala season is the most hectic season and you are expected to stay there past five or is frowned upon and if you don’t stay there past five if you can guarantee that you won’t get a permanent position there. As an intern, they gave me a lot of responsibility and valued my contributions to the team. The job description for interns often does not fully encompass what you will be working on in. It can sometimes be frustrating with lack of direct supervision or reporting to multiple managers. Definitely expect to be challenged in this role.
