I have been working at Personio for a few years now and I have seen the company grow from an early stage startup to a professional scale up, while always fostering an environment where people can learn and get a chance to prove and expand their skills.
The company has changed a lot over the years. Almost every year felt like a different company. Not only has the number of employees increased, but as Personio has grown, our processes have become more professional, our ways of working have improved, and our strategy has become sharper.
Personio is very supportive of my work-life balance: I have a cargo bike through Jobrad, I can flex my working hours to pick up my kid from daycare, and the internal development offer includes coaching sessions.

I'd love to see more benefits for parents as in the last years Personio's benefit structure was mainly focused on enlarging the offering for trainings/development, health topics and such. Support on finding daycare facilities or babysitter agencies would be amazing.

The sales team is completely falling apart, completely incompetent new joiners are being thrown out during the probationary period because even more incompetent leaders have arrived. Targets are impossible to achieve and it feels like they are changed every month. It looks modern on the outside, but inside there is total chaos.

- Decision-Making: Important decisions are being made from the top down without clear explanations, which makes it hard for teams to feel like they own their work. It's okay to have top-down decisions, but it's crucial to provide enough context for them to work effectively.
- Shifting Priorities: Constantly changing what's most important can be confusing and disruptive, especially for a growing company. Teams need some stability to be productive, instead of constantly shifting priorities.
- Feedback on Performance: Reviews of employees' performance are subjective and lack specific guidance on how to improve. This leaves developers and managers unsure about what they need to do to get better.
- Limited Control Over Technical Choices: Development teams aren't really part of the discussions when it comes to deciding on technical matters, even though they're supposed to be in charge of their own areas.
- Hindered Growth: The lack of a clear development plan and unrealistic expectations from higher-ups are holding back employees' growth. The evaluation process doesn't recognize or reward things like improving communication skills, and there's little motivation for developers to develop skills beyond the technical aspects of their jobs.

- The most fake and toxic culture I have ever seen. Everyone acts nice but colleagues are climbing over each other to prove they are better than others due to fear of losing their jobs. Lots of back stabbing and gossip.
- There's a strong micromanagement culture. Management lacks trust and every decision is controlled by many managers. So much time is spent on reporting to management.
- Very inexperienced managers who only look out for themselves. They don't listen to feedback and just tell you what to do.
- A high number of employees are being managed out or made redundant. If you make a mistake or voice your opinion you're likely to be put on a performance plan to push you out.
- Management prefer waterfall approach and you need to define all requirements up front or you will be punished.
- Very slow delivery. It takes forever to build basic features due to so many teams being involved and people don't know how to work together.
- The product organization is very immature/inexperienced. You won't learn anything here if you're a junior product manager (just bad habits), and if you're experienced, you'll be frustrated by how poor things are.
- Most people want to leave and the recent employee feedback is terrible but management don't care.
