However, the constant lack of communication & seemingly non stop drama made it hard to feel secure. I stopped a little boy from kicking a little girl & I was written up because the child saw me get irritated. That is the type of thing that happened daily at PCDS. My Director of Facilities was nothing more than a yes man for the CFO & Head of School. He had absolutely no business being in that position. His assistant was more knowledgeable & more capable of being the leader of that department. Management was good to me. Easy to work there. That I had a contract every year. I learned how to work with different system in many areas. The first couple of hours of the day was spent arranging substitute coverage for faculty members who called out of work and also covering the front desk in the Main Office. The rest of the day was spent managing the campus work orders and events calendar and ensuring that these to major elements of the Facilities department ran smoothly. Once a month, I participated in Trustee meetings taking minutes and coordinating the meetings working along with the committee's chairperson. I worked in a department with all men and we worked well together. A difficult aspect of the job could be working with working with irate parents. Matters were always handled in a tactful manner and with the utmost respect. The most enjoyable aspect of the position was getting to know the many different faculty and staff members and being known by everyone as my position allowed me to either reach out to the PCDS family community, but most times the PCDS family would reach out to me and my office due to the nature of our work. It was nice working management who worked closely with their employees and valued advancement and expressed such by encouraging continuing education.
