Everyone is very friendly and always make time to help you when your in need. There are great training and development opportunities and you get a sense that it is a company that is going somewhere, there is always a drive to be bigger and better than before. This are the things that have kept it together as long as it has been. Things should be good, but the company can't seem to leave the startup mindset. There is a shocking lack of leadership for the number of managers, directors, etc. Any time a project or product starts to gain inertia, the company switches strategy or reorganizes and wastes the effort and money. The management has stated they have no concern for moral, and I've seen some things I personally consider unethical get rewarded. It's a solid team of engineers, with a good culture and a strong work ethic. The work environment - Phononic is a startup that's been around for 9 years or so, which means they're in the middle of "growing up" but still have growing pains. They're implementing a management team to help drive accountability and process. They also still have some back and forth decision making that can cause some whiplash and fire drill design cycles. Company environment started great then the company grew too fast by hiring a lot of people from a local company that was laying off. They got a lot of people that did not have or get the expertise that they needed to make the company successful which led for a few people to work extremely hard while others just showed up. When company started losing money the people getting paid decent started to get let go (laid off with packages). I received very little training and was quickly feeling overwhelmed and out of place as more responsibilities we're given to me.
