Terrible management.
|
Do not work here unless you're desperate. The management really does not care for you and sees you as a tool. Calling out, even just once, is treated like the worst possible thing one could ever do. Breaks are not spaced out well, and guest often treat you poorly.

Free zoo membership is nice, I've met some excellent friends on the job, including my now girlfriend.

Fun place to work but underpaid
|
Management is unprofessional. They play favorites with the schedule and promotions. Not much opportunity for advancement. If you're working the spirit cruises then you never get a break. They expect you to work weekends all the time. Only way to get a weekend day off is to request it off. They don't offer vacation time or sick days. Just covid sick days now. They also require you to work holidays but don't always offer holiday pay.

Fun at times, can get busy and stressful
|
The job required a lot of standing, talking, and repetition trying to sell souvenir photos to people who don't really want them. Certain locations are better than others. Sometimes you may not get a break due to busyness or being understaffed. Punctuality is a must. I enjoyed working with my coworkers. The pay wasn't the best, but it is more of a stepping stone job.

Coworkers can make it easier, but you're mostly paid to trick people into overpaying for cheap novelty photos
Customers pay more for one picture than you're paid in an hour, do the math, it's a pyramid scheme

Youre viewed only as disposable bodies to management

At this job, I had customers intentionally shove me, run me over with strollers, curse me out, and face mush me. Of course management only cares about this if you say anything even alluding to defending yourself against these attacks. You can spend YEARS working for this company, have perfect attendance, always pick up dropped shifts and cover for people on your days off, and they will STILL fire you out of nowhere as though you were never anything, ESPECIALLY if you are not friends with management, if you have any physical limitations, if you are pregnant, the list goes on. I've seen this with my own eyes. You wont be valued as an employee here, and loyalty means nothing here.

You'll do more work while their favorites do less work in the office..All they do is talked trash..I get yelled at for the number of photos I took..The more is better PLUS the more you sell is even better..But less mean you'll get blame on by the supervisors and managers..Whose gonna buy the photos??..Not everyone who walked by it..We're supposed to do way better for Photogenic in Massachusetts because of tourism, but it's not gonna happened..

In general, managers at Photogenic Inc.
I felt as if the St. Louis, MO locations we're hostile and discriminatory. While I cannot provide hard evidence that was how I felt for the near year of my employment. Some of my coworkers were great, but the only good and respectful manager was demoted/terminated shortly after I started and it got progressively worse from there. Again I don't have any hard evidence, this was my perception of what I experienced there. I would discourage anyone from accepting a job With this company.

The training provided to new photographers here is actually pretty useful, as someone who wasn't intending on a career in photography, the basic guidelines and programs they use to teach photo editing is pretty good. I've been better at taking pictures ever since, which is a useful skill to almost anyone.
