What is the best part of working at the company?
Pilot/FlyingJ Chattanooga, Not a very good place to work. Trucks and tanks are NEVER WASHED and the hoses are ALWAYS FILTHY. Dispatch gives ALL the CONTRACT loads to their favorite drivers. So You spend most of Your night chasing down ALLOCATION. The pay was GREAT, BUT, I have to give MANAGEMENT an F. To many of the drivers there spend MORE TIME worrying about if someone else got a better load than they did ( SUPER NOSY DRIVERS). Don't WASTE YOUR TIME HERE.
What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Equipment that doesn't work PROPERLY and running down Allocation for loads.
What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment is STRESSFUL BECAUSE drivers won't help other drivers. You won't get trained properly. It's make the mistake and learn afterwards environment.
What is a typical day like for you at the company?
12 hours shifts and normally the day drivers NEVER get done before 12 hours and they expect the night drivers to take a short night.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I love Pilot flying J, over a year and a half at the one in Nisku, and I hate even missing time when I'm sick. We have awesome customers, but the majority of our stuff is a hoot. We have a lot of laughs while doing our job, and fulfilling our duties.
What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Nothing. Other than when I'm sick, I miss everything about flying J.
What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment is, I'm basically the cleaning lady, they call me Mrs. Clean. Culture...mixed.
What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I accomplish a lot, I love to clean so that's what I do a lot of on my shift, mix it with great staff and customers, you cannot go wrong.

As a General manager you are expected to pretty much be every person in the building. If you are at a struggling store or location be prepared to receive no help from a corporate stand point. The most that I ever saw is they put an ad out, which in directness lack correct details of the positions. In multiple occasions as a GM i was expected to cover any time a call out occurred, no matter the area. You are expected to know each and every position in order to fill in for others as required. The way the company is set up for staffing is to overwork all employees to death. There is no in between on staffing hours. For example with the location I worked at, even though we were over on sales and goal targets no extra labor was ever given to help compensate for the extra work in the store. Employees constantly burn out and in turn quit because the pay does not match the job requirements, not even close.
The corporate side will throw out terms like, "you matter", but that is all that is there. GMs are asked to do performance reviews for each team member at either 6 months or 1 year to do raises. However, after corporate reviews the raises are literal pennies, e.g. $0.10.
Overall it is not a good place to work. The clients, mainly truckers, treat employees horribly and if you ask them to leave it turns into a corporate complaint which you are asked to call the customer and pretty much apologize for them cussing out your employees, treating them like dirt, etc. In directness if you are a decent person that believes that employees should be treated with respect and that mistreatment is not OK, this is not the place for you. However, if you are a manager that enjoys just doing as told and being a puppet for a paycheck it may be the right place for you.

Pilot could be a much better company to work for, but they choose not to be better!

The work is Fairly simple doing 1-2 loads per day, there is much more driving to get to each Pilot truck stop to deliver so if you don’t mind driving distances this is the place to be. 75% of loads are diesel with about 25% being gas. There’s minimal micro managing, come in and do your work with no worries. Work is consistent year round. The negative aspect is that Pilot has a Culture of not being Nowhere near the top paying company in the fuel industry, Pilot doesn’t believe in Raises or pay a competitive salary, you start off with a decent salary but that’s it! There is No top pay or progression of salary, we were told that if you stay 5yrs, you’ll get a $1.00 Raise! There is No incentive for a driver to stay long term, when everyone is paying more. In the region of Southern California, everyone gets paid differently (that makes No sense)

A $10 lunch is offered but it doesn’t cover total cost of the meal so you have to add to it

The 10ft hoses were taken away, now you’re forced to use 17ft hoses, which leads me to believe they don’t care if you hurt your back

Working there is stressful when customers are rushing you to hurry up. Management doesn't want to work with second jobs hours. Cut hours if they are mad at you.
