Pay could be better
This was my first SDR job and it was an amazing fit for me at first. I made what I was expecting and the training was thorough, supportive and effective.
If there exists an easy product to sell, podium is it. It’s extremely relevant to it’s audience.
The culture is unlike anything I’ve ever seen, my direct superior and her’s were some of the most inspiring and motivating people I’ve ever worked with. This place is chock full of some really great professionals
The pay is not only lower than every other SDR job nearby, but the commission AND quota structure for SDRs is 100% based on closed revenue. This wasn’t explained to me when I interviewed and was implemented a week into my stay. This wasn’t my cup of tea so when I got a better offer that I felt demonstrated a more respectful commission structure with a higher base, I decided to take things another way.
Important thing to mention is when I was considering leaving, senior management tried to scare me into staying. Threatened to never hire me back and I was making a terrible career mistake and I was wrong for wanting a more reliable commission structure and better pay. Very arrogant and scarce mindset from senior management.
That being said, if it wasn’t for a better offer, I would’ve stayed to invest more time, I was lucky to be paired with a great AE in a high performing vertical. My guess however is it’s a very stressful job if those two things aren’t the case.

It takes time for someone to believe in the long term opportunities of a company. It doesn’t matter what you say, what you promise or what kind of success others have seen. If you want to reduce SDR churn and for your employees to invest in you up front, then you should invest in them upfront. The truth is, any SDR at podium worth their salt can get an offer for more money and predictable commission elsewhere. If they don’t realize this before applying they will realize it very soon after starting. You’ve made a strong push for hiring higher quality SDRs. There’s nothing in your recent compensation changes that reflects this. Going from salary to hourly, reduced PTO, and an unpredictable commission structure doesn’t communicate to an SDR that they’re worth any more than before. This makes it very hard to believe there’s any better of a long term opportunity at Podium than elsewhere. In a highly competitive labor market with lots of turnover, these could be things to take into account.

Fun company with great coworkers you enjoy working with. Benefits for a single person are good.
Some CS leaders struggle and are widely known for being toxic. Pay is definitely on the lower end and they are strict with raises. They would always say there’s no budget for raises but then you would hear of others in the department getting significant raises.

Awful sales environment
Meet a lot of great people there. Product itself is actually really good. They make the “ culture” very believable
Over promise and under deliver. Disgusting display of a “sales organization” uneven playing field amongst employees. Only certain people have to follow the rules. Others basically do whatever they want and get moved forward. You can be a top 5 performer there and they will find some excuse to not move you forward to give someone else your promotion with a worse actual sales performance. Managers don’t do anything except have morning meets and evening ones then spend the whole day interviewing for more people because they loose so many people so fast. High churn rate from customers and employees. They fire certain people for not hitting their “metrics” while others who don’t get promoted. They pick who they want to move forward. Has nothing to do with performance or skill set.

They Don't Care About Employees
They say they are trying to make improvements
Half the team is constantly on performance plan. They won't show the data to back up quota expectations. Product is sub-par and 2x the price of many competitors. Exec team won't acknowledge the competition, quickly losing market share.
Almost no opportunity to earn promotions.
They will tell you all is well and that the company is thriving, but then will have layoffs & restructures with no notice or provocation.
