Another example of too many "commercially" minded egos running riot in an Energy company. Ignorance of the Industry basics was built on a platform of over confidence to sell and sell and sell and ignore how to control costs to serve. Staff at the sharp end are treated like "grunts" and given no opportunity to develop knowledge and skills and experience. The outcome being that Powershop could not find anyone to support its lazy ways and hence will migrate it's portfolio to Eon. The level of disconnect between commercial and the operational real world is as big as the solar system and the Powershop Planet will disappear like many energy companies into a black hole of egos running riot , thinking they are shaping a new version of customer service, when all you had to do was use the wheel NOT re-invent it or not use it at all. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 0.0 1.0 4.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 958332 Open Go back to Energy school and learn the basics of ALL of the customer journey and treat the "doing" staff with much more respect and reward. The team is small so you feel like you really know everyone. Constructive criticism and feedback is acted on when given; regular feedback opportunities and surveys with results communicated back. Regular development opportunities and new jobs becoming available. Clear channels of communication between everyone in the business. Customer Service, Operations, Managment and all other teams spend time together socially and in the work environment. Genuine care for colleagues. Very versitile - currently working from home due to COVID-19 pandemic and nothing has changed too much. Still feels like a new company at times; some key foundations of the operational day to day are noticeably missing. Salary is basic for customer facing staff. If working for egomaniacs is your thing, then Powershop is the job for you. If you’re not running around like a minstrel or sucking up to then NZ crew then unfortunately your face wont fit. I saw a lot of good staff get fired simply because someone higher up didn’t like them. They have a distorted perspective on what culture actually is - its pretty laughable to be honest. private:powershop https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=958332 Mar 20th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open PowerShop Good people but soul destroying. - Honestly some of the nicest people within a company that I've ever worked with. - Reliable performance in the UK market, not about to fold like a lot of smaller suppliers so no real threat of sudden redundancy. - Very open contact points with upper management. - Convenient transport links to office, central Birmingham. - There is absolutely no progression paths other than TL positions which all currently belong to a very Cliquey group within the company. - Workloads are SEVERELY unbalanced and a massive internal culture of "Not my department, not my problem" - Salary is extremely basic.
