Friendly group of smart people. Fun even if slightly snobby environment. Great accessibility, next door to the metro, Just off 405 and 10, reimbursement for Metro card. Catered lunches. Product management has no say in guiding the company towards a market fit, decisions and directions change on whim with no reasoning offered in the hopes of accidentally finding fit. This has lead to extremely long sales cycles and lost of wasted time and resources working on futile projects. Technology hasn't kept up with times: Archaic software engineering processes, laughably bad focus on quality, passive aggression galore. Sub-par engineering group. What was once a promising company working on the bleeding edge has slipped into a culture of cycle of churning management-appeasing products with zero emphasis on rigor and quality. Opportunity squandered. Last person standing principle for promotions and failing upwards to senior management after core group of A+ players made a beeline to the exit a few years ago. Not sure how they are still in the industry. They are fully political and have zero technical acumen. They still stick on to the job although they don't deserve to be there by bootlicking. They have 0% knowledge of their role. The main internal teams (Modeling, Software, and Product) have leaders who collaborate very effectively, while the externally facing teams have retained excellent leaders. These changes have turned a difficult and occasionally conflict-prone environment into an environment that rewards hard work and collaboration while remaining conflict- and turf war-free. The upgrades to our processes and models have also allowed us to better serve clients and land new ones. Working is fun, meetings are productive, the subject matter is always interesting, and we always have to learn new thing just to stay ahead of what's going on in the world. Senior management has done a good job of keeping us on a relatively straight path as well, with fewer seemingly random pivots and a much better thought out strategy for getting us from where we are now to ultimate success. Management has also mostly done a great job of being transparent with the entire company, including frequent sales and finance updates. Obviously in this time of COVID-19 we are not having free lunches and office snacks, but the admin staff has done a good job of trying to maintain the social atmosphere we had while in the office. They've done several contest-type happy hours and other online events to facilitate us hanging out with our colleagues (even if virtually). As others noted, the sales cycle remains long (and probably always will be). That makes planning difficult. Fresh fruit, snacks and refreshments are available to employees for free. • Flexible work schedule. • Open plan workstations. A lot of natural light. No boring cubicles! • Praedicat covers my professional certification costs and encourages me to keep up with continuing education. • You get to work with a group of extremely smart people. • Collaborative & friendly coworkers. Everyone is hardworking and pull their own weight. • We get to volunteer at the LA Food Bank every year as a team. It’s a very rewarding experience. • Praedicat provides you with a company funded METRO card if you prefer to take public transit. • Plenty of social events: happy hour on Fridays, annual company picnic, Halloween party and holiday party. As well as various smaller activities throughout the year. Not necessarily a con, but Praedicat is a fast paced company. Strategies and priorities can change quickly. This is typically normal behavior in startups though. The work is challenging and the technology stack is very competitive. There are endless possibilities of growth. I read some of the older reviews complaining about the technology and have to say the people writing them must have quit Praedicat a long time back. Some of the other pros that I can think of are: 1. Family-Friendly environment 2. Lots of social activities including get togethers and Friday happy hours. 3. Sponsored lunch 4. Connectivity through public transport plus free TAP card 5. Freedom to choose and work on new technologies , since we are rapidly building new components. 6. Opportunities to design products from the scratch. 7. You are heard. 8. Transparency in company goals, financials and sales 9. You get to learn something nerdy and science related , everyday. The culture is fun, the people are hard working and very smart. The CEO’s passion for Praedicat is contagious. The company is like any other start up, it’s fast paced, things are always moving / changing and there is no room for errors. This can be very exciting for some while stressful for others. You will learn about the research on modern hazards every day. As a result you will eat clean and lose weight. The company's goals and objectives are game changers for the insurance industry. Trying to change the way the insurance companies have done business for 100+ years is a daunting task. Praedicat employees are challenged with this on a day to day basis. Every one of them works hard towards the company's success. And as with any job, your success and enjoyment is dependent on what you put into it. Be ready to work hard with a great bunch of people who are working together for that common goal. Management has been successful in creating a family atmosphere (there can be occasional disagreements). It is the great people of Praedicat that makes going to work each day enjoyable and rewarding. We did have layoffs which was hard emotionally to see good people let go. Morale was low, but the survivors pulled together in spite of it all. This means that it will take a decades before they can gather the data that really demonstrates the value of their idea. It also means their customers won't really pay any penalties for ignoring their analytics for decades. More importantly, difficult corporate culture. Plenty of drama among the staff.
