Great Company To Work With
PreApprovalLetter.com is a startup with strong development knowledge in an agile environment which allows quick development turn-around times. The people who work at PAL treat each other like family and embody the phrase 'work hard, play hard'. The company offers 100% medical coverage and life insurance.
As a startup, there's often a lot of work to do and requires being a self-starter and creative problem solver. This can be quite demanding at times.

Great small company experience
I was a software developer at this vibrant start-up and have to say it was a pleasant experience. I left because of medical issues but this company would rate as one of my better employers. Like most start-ups, you were left to freely discover alternate means of solving technical problems although obviously this was in direct relation with your technical abilities. Very cool and informal work setting allowed you to be comfortable while working and, although not without problems, everyone seemed to communicate effectively and work well together.
A lot is expected of you as they have few employees working on tight deadlines; so technical proficiency or willingness to advance beyond your borders is a must. Not for those unwilling or unable to adapt.
As all start-ups, work was hectic and specifications changed frequently and direction was altered a few times. But these were never without communication and open status meetings where everyone felt a part of the process.

Startup company with questionable direction
Nice people to work with except for the CIO
CIO seems to have a micro manager mentality.
He would come into where I work every half an hour and see what my status was.
He did not ask me any questions on the interview without knowing my full technical experience which wasn't quite up to par as far as what they needed. However, that was never conveyed to me what my specific responsibilities were going to be.
Last time I wrote a review here, he told me to bring it down or else he would get a cease & desist letter against me. I reluctantly took it down. However, I just realized that this is a public site for current & former employees to discuss what they think about the company. That stated, I have done nothing inappropriate. I just told it like I called it.

Someone capable of getting involved with all aspects of systems analysis and development. \r\n\r\nAs he was our first hired programmer, and that I personally engineered, designed and coded the entire system to that point, I was the only person qualified to provide the details necessary to make his employment successful. \r\n\r\nTechnical hiring, as we scale, is one of my highest priorities. We have since implemented a team structure and hiring procedures to ensure that new employees start in a more defined environment.\r\n\r\nThank you for your feedback -- Francois", "responseOriginal": null, "countNotHelpful": 0}]
