Beautiful location and free shuttle to the park Where to begin? On the surface, the Trust is beautiful but sadly the core is rotten. Upper management is bloated and disconnected from what is going on - they simply do not want to understand or care. Frequent, half-baked ideas for improvement surface every so often but quickly evaporate. The new CEO does seem to want to improve things but unfortunately she has surrounded herself with a bloated and inept executive team that is constantly battling with each other and building their various fiefdoms. Backstabbing and scapegoating seem to be the preferred management styles, the overall environment is quite toxic. Most staff are counting down the days to retirement or looking to move elsewhere while rumors of more layoffs continue to float. Thinking of coming to work here? Don't. A beautiful park, a dedicated staff There is so much to say since leaving the park in late Spring, I worked through three administrations the first one being a mafia style operation and the second one being mostly business to make the park self funded, the last one was supposed to be employee based, open door policy and welcoming to all but that never happened, The CEO never seemed to really get anything off the ground and then promoted a wack job chief of lands and buildings to complete the dysfunctional package. This has been very disappointing to a very dedicated staff, most who were released of their duties this spring. Prioritization of environmental rehabilitation. Management, executive leadership is wholly disconnected with staff. Major departments cut to make space for more rental facilities. The park is on its way to become a glorified rental facility. CEO was condescending, especially when addressing staff about union negotiations and even Covid 19 layoffs when answering questions from staff that were leaving. Community engagement strategies pushed by leadership in recent years have been very performative. Beautiful location, lots of talented coworkers. Many departments are chronically understaffed leading many talented employees to burn out and leave. There is a lot of nepotism and favoritism among management with employees being promoted into positions based on friendship with managers not on qualifications. There has been attempts in the last few years to reorganize but the changes have just led to more problems and very low morale. Mission is adrift with antiquated top down "leadership." CEO is disconnected from a workforce which is exhausted by her non-essential initiatives and KPIs. Instead of encouraging and rewarding collaboration and innovation, the CEO has created a work culture full of fear, favoritism, privilege, and competition. The empress has no clothes or clue and fails to listen. Metrics and data rule her castle and get disregarded or changed when they no longer support the plan or agenda. Employees- including management-feel used, undervalued and unheard. Work in a biodiverse National Park at the north end of SF with amazing colleagues in Natural Resources. I, as a person of color, did not feel equal when standing next to my white colleagues. Though I worked harder and longer than some, I feel I was lesser because of the color of my skin - more opportunities were afforded to my white colleagues and it was assumed that I did not want to go the extra mile. I also feel like this park is for the people most near its borders - "my backyard" as the people in the Marina and Pacific Heights would say. It is beautiful, lots of wildlife, the coastline is out of this world. One of the best physical locations to work. While I was there the actual employees I met and worked with were amazing people. My manager was a shining star during my time here. Even my department head from what I know was a great leader. This place is so awful that I was forced to sign a legally binding agreement that prevents me from telling you how awful it is. They use fear tactics and "carrot dangling" to prevent anyone from knowing how sinisterly they have run things for 25+ years. -mismanagement of public funds -fake leaders -puts accountability of past and present failures on low end staff -threatens people with legal action for telling the truth -couldn't even get our unemployment transition right and nobody is receiving benefits in the middle of a pandemic -wasted a lot of potential -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 9.0 1.0 4.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 41517 Open Resign immediately!
