The Trust does this by renting out the buildings and using that money to pay for the park expenses. When they have a budget conflict, they get rid of the maintenance and preservation people instead of completely non-essential management personnel. That's like a store that tries to save money by not stocking their shelves and hiring more management to get more work out of the skeleton staff that does the work. Senior management is trying to increase efficiency via micromanagement in areas where they have no experience and will not follow advice from those most experienced in those areas. Morale is extremely low. Beautiful location. Mission is important. Senior management clueless but well paid. If you are in the “in team” you will be given options for advancement, pay raises and a lot of down time even though you have no clue of your so called specialty area. If you are not in the “in team”, no matter how good you are, you can expect to be pushed out. Top heavy management. Poor leadership. The Presidio attracts a lot of talent and does nothing to keep them. The lower talent employees stick around and keep culture and professionalism down. No advancement unless you are connected(nepotism). Scandals get swept under the rug. Loved it and the people. Educated, fun, laid back Californians. But it was impossible to live there on my salary. Beautiful site, some nice perks working there.
