HEB needs much improvement.
|
Delivery provided a great opportunity to stay active and assist others, particularly the disabled and elderly, which I found fulfilling. However, the issue lay with HEB. Constant changes, never benefiting the driver, often slowed down the process and made things very inconvenient. Despite promises made during training, there is zero room for growth, with a 90% chance of remaining a driver or eventually quitting.
The pay policy was highly unfair; customers pay the driver's wage without knowledge. Therefore, I made sure to inform them not to tip. Management seldom listened to drivers, and support was rarely on our side; it often felt like the driver against everyone else. Curbside was a pain to work with, they behaved very lazily and incompetent, further slowing drivers down. If you complained, they’d figure out who it was and would passive aggressively target you.
In case of injury, beware; despite how nice management acts, you are now deemed useless or high risk, and they will immediately start looking for a replacement. Drivers do not receive any benefits or insurance, even though they often surpass 40 hours or regularly work 35+. Overall, it's a decent job for making some extra income, but don’t rely on it as your main source of livelihood because like any other job, you are replaceable.

Please remove the integrated timing process of the RF Units.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part is the pay and benefits.
The worst part is the use of the RF unit as an order selector with its integration in to the system used to rigidly and unfairly TIME you.
The biggest worst part, is that HEB distribution center focuses more on speed and puts it ABOVE SAFETY. Any lawyer or safety officer can easily pull up the incident reports and track history of safety violations all because the reach truck operators, forklift users, and order selectors are FORCED to speed through their pallet assignments.
And the big cherry on top to all of this? If you get too many work infractions due to this forced speed factor, you eventually get fired and let go from the distribution center.
Mighty disappointing coming from the likes of HEB.
What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The forced speed factors. Safety comes first, not speed.
What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Culture is great. Work environment per the refrigeration, freezer, and departments are also good. Its really irritating to face milk spills in the PDC department which COST you dearly on your pallet assignments to which your lost time is never given back to you.
What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Come to work happy.
Leave work extremely irritated and unnecessarily frustrated.
