Nice workers, friendly staff, bad management, totally incompetent executives
|
I made many great friends working here, but leadership was always nonexistent. Middle management is grasping at straws to keep upper management happy. Good lip service to a new era of cultural awareness and transparency, followed by massive layoffs, and seemingly arbitrary hirings and firings. I would describe upper management as having adopted a fear and intimidation-based leadership style. Latest management line seems to know nothing about how to operate a business or sustain quality talent. I feel sorry for them.

Really high turnover rate for employees, probably at 50% due to poor management and no possibility for raises. Look at the NYT articles written about the company culture before committing to it, google John Amato Billboard New York Times. Mainly bridge and tunnel employees that come in for the minimum amount of time and effort and then return to a different state. They do not give appropriate raises, so make sure to negotiate your salary going in because it won't change.
Since the New York Times articles, they have made all snacks free. Sometimes you get to see musicians come thru the office, but there are no free or discounted tickets offered to employees for music experiences.

Days would start by prioritizing support issues. Anything related to production of print, web or tablet issues would be first. After fires were put out the team would focus on projects in the works to improve the overall efficiency of systems and upgrades.
Management was supportive and always willing to listen.
Co-workers were the absolute best. We collaborated and supported each other and any egos were checked at the door.
The hardest part of the job was being on call 24/7/365 however they was only necessary once to twice a week.
The most enjoyable part of the job was to help to end users perform their day to day job function and seeing our projects successfully completed.
