Morale is hard to predict and varies week to week. Not a lot of communication between different work units so makes actions that are take by one unit, negatively impact others. Only offers a hybrid work schedule which is archaic. Mixed messages as many VPs work remotely and meetings, even from people in the office, are still set up over Teams, despite the fact that many of the people are sitting mere feet from one another.

Coaction is in serious growth mode and has hired like crazy over the last year. With expenses going up and being funded by a PE company there is slight concern about long term job security. There is a lot of room for growth here but that is a cause of high turn over. Senior management is a typical boys club. Wholesale and MGA only for multiline departments is an odd set up. Expense budget for entertainment and marketing is extremely low, despite high pay. Flexibility with hybrid schedule can be better given that a lot of staff are remote full-time.

Pay attention to warning signs + red flags

I know of other employees that had average-to-mediocre experiences, but nothing stands out as a "pro" in my experience or from what I know about the typical experience.
|
This is an old-school insurance company that embodies the horror stories you hear about from friends and peers, replete with mismanagement, paranoia, some early 90's misogyny, and a desperation to be relevant. (Case in point, the original CEO held up a cell phone and coined the idea of e-commerce. . . but in 2016). Seriously, though, senior leadership talks terribly about their direct reports and their peers while company culture is a cancer of sycophancy. I knew many an employee, myself included, who had to pick up their jaw on a daily basis out of astonishment at various workplace happenings (outrageous unprofessional behavior / gossip on a personal level that left you wondering what people were saying about you / arbitrary decision making reflective of inexperienced management / etc). This was the worst professional experience of my life as well as of many people I knew at Coaction (ProSight). There are so many companies out there that have similar work content but are better / healthier / smarter / of-the-21st-century that there is no reason to join this place. Pay attention to warning signs and red flags in the recruiting process, and from reviews, and from the day you start (hopefully you don't take the job!)

The pay was higher than most internships
|
The culture stinks. You either drink the koolaid or you’re considered not a good fit even if you showed great work performance (as commented by my manager). All they care about is that you’ll be their friends as opposed to someone who can handle the work well. And yet some of the staff are super rude even when you try to talk to them. I chose this over another internship and I regretted it so much. Pick this if you want high pay for a summer job otherwise go somewhere else

New CEO did not understand captives and rather than learning about them, he shut down the department and forced all existing captive business into runoff. The CUO is risk adverse and can't make decisions.
