Founder/CEO Erika Bliss changed the corp to an LLC, made plans to open a new business behind the scenes, and then jumped. She left behind many unpaid workers, unpaid physicians and benefit premiums were withdrawn from checks only to find that insurance had been cancelled and Erika/Cheryl (President) did not reimburse employees. Employees that complained about not being paid were fired on the spot. Employees were told the money "Was coming." Patients were not given a full 30 days notice of closure. Owner moved on, refused to speak with employees and refused to meet them. There was and still is no remorse. Sketchy business practices occurred at the end, including handwritten checks and one employee was REMOVED from the bank when she showed up to cash a Qliance check. This was a single mother. Qliance has taken a common sense approach to healthcare. The DPC model cuts cost, increases accountability and perhaps the most important, encourages a trusting provider-patient relationship. Qliance has had success in this arena through proactive leadership and very accessible senior management. The leadership team encourage employees to reach out to them with concerns and suggestions. For the flexible and hungry employee, Qliance offers the chance to wear multiple hats and take on other projects. This is very refreshing! It can be a bit of a challenge getting out of downtown Seattle after work. I have had the pleasure of working with a multitude of people that I consider to be some of the best coworkers anybody could have. Qliance has been there for me through thick and thin, through staff changes, through company changes, through hard times and good times. It is by far the most compassionate, caring, progressive, empowering, and uplifting company I have every worked for and really ever came across. I have been given opportunities that have changed my life for the better in every possible way. When other companies were stuck on me needing a specific piece of paper that says I can do the job to wanting extensive experience but couldn't explain to me how to get it while not giving me the chance to acquire the said experience, Qliance not only looked past all the "societal norms" of what is necessary but they gave me the opportunity of a lifetime and in doing so have given me more than any other company ever has, and I don't necessarily mean money. I have been given a chance to learn, to grow, to progress, to teach, to be a part of the Q-Family, and to be guided as well as the chance to guide others which in turn makes me an even better person and employee. When I was first hired I will never forget the first time I met Erika Bliss, a founder and current CEO. She was, and still is, the most incredibly kind woman you will ever meet. She carries the world on her shoulders and still would bend over backwards to help any employee of hers that needed it, whether that be a maintenance man or a doctor. I don't think I have heard a negative word come out of her mouth, she doesn't know the meaning of failure and it shows. As if that wasn't enough, I am so lucky to have another amazing woman as a supervisor, Cheryl Kilodavis, the President of Qliance. I have considered her somebody to look up to since the days when she was a small part of the company and I heard about a book she wrote about her son, with the idea that everybody should be encouraged and supported in WHATEVER it is they are doing. She has shown me how to see the best in everybody, how to approach coworkers from a perspective that is most beneficial to them specifically. Every time I speak with her I walk away amazed at the new information I have learned, every single time. I can honestly say I would not be the person I am today if it wasn't for Qliance, and Erika and Cheryl specifically, I owe them more than I will ever know. I will be forever grateful to my Qliance Family for the opportunities afforded me and the person they have formed me into. This was never more apparent than during a recent personal loss of a family member. The love and support that, not only I, but my family, received from my coworkers and the company as a whole is unbelievable. I am at a loss for words to describe the actions, feelings, letters, cards, emails and tears I received and shared with them. At Qliance, we truly and passionately care about each other and our patients, its in the companies DNA, its what they emphasize and its what they do. Anybody who is lucky enough to work for a company like this is hopefully smart enough to realize what they have. I, for one, will never forget the way I have been treated by this company and the compassion they showed to me in lots of different ways. They do a good job of promoting internally and recognizing hard work. Leadership goes to great lengths to keep everyone in the company informed with direction and everyone has a voice (both the CEO and President know everyone, so you do get heard!). Being involved in Direct Primary Care, a new industry with lots of great potential. This is a smaller company in a new health care model, so change is a reality. Some people may be uncomfortable with this, but for others (like myself) it offers opportunities to take on projects that you would otherwise not be exposed to at a larger company. Patients have good experiences, long appointments The clinic is located across from Pacific Place and Westlake so it is easy to commute by bus from neighborhoods in Seattle Company direction changes constantly. I believed in the mission when I was hired but Qliance doesn't know who they are. When I started it was supposed to be affordable primary care for people who couldn't afford it and now it's something entirely different. Leadership not trustworthy and has consistent patterns of poor decision making and broken promises CEO's leadership team contains personal friends Culture of fear Culture of anxiety - daily worries about the health of the company and when the next round of layoffs is coming Poor communication and almost no transparency – including withholding information Wages are under market and med/dental benefits are bares bones and don't cover much. There are no extra perks or incentives. I don't count being able to see a primary care doctor at work as one of them, since it's a small company and that is awkward. Repeated layoffs mean changing shifts and staff asked to work harder and take on more tasks with fewer resources There are constant promises to provide employees w/ better benefits, pay increases, or bonuses “when we become profitable” - which has never happened, and probably won't. We all kept working under stressful conditions expecting the company would do the right thing. It didn't. Low morale Leadership motto is - act first then ask for forgiveness later. This is not a good thing. This version of Qliance is the exact same as the old one since all of the prior leaders are in place. There are so many great companies in Seattle. Look at those.
