The product Rave sells is solid in the market.
|
There is such a lack of accountability and role definition it makes it hard for there to be strong collaboration and have impact. You have teams and employees working around the clock while others barely show up. Rave is 100% their own worst enemy - making it very difficult to change processes and innovate internally. A lot of 'this is always how we have done it'.
There are a few executives that don't know how to lead and it is impacting the company's performance. Instead of brining in the right talent, those executives are protected. Without this change Rave won't progress / move forward.

- Legitimately great and hard working professionals across all aspects of sales, sales engineering, and business development
- Good Health/Dental/Vision benefits

- No investment whatsoever for the Corporate/Business Team, making its mass notification and mobile safety apps fall behind competitors such as Everbridge, OnSolve, and AlertMedia
- Aligning with a "lead generation" company to set up meetings where zero context was given on who Rave was and what the value prop of the organization was to the prospect connecting with
- A "panic layoff" towards the end of 2020 resulted in many of the best sales reps across all teams being let go, with average and underpaid reps being placed in charge of sizeable territories
- Lack of communication across all departments, displaying a sizeable disconnect between sales, marketing, and product especially (i.e. being advised to sell Desktop Popups months before they were ready)
- Lack of involvement by Customer Success in Corporate accounts, as they spend their time focused on statewide deployments
- Feedback to Product Manageement always falling on deaf ears for the Corporate Team, though innovations for the State and Local Government team were always priority #1
- Finance department has struggled for well over a year in terms of errors with renewals, where a client will be sent Past Due notices multiple times, even though they have either renewed of their calls/emails have not been returned
- Restructuring of Commission Plan that takes money out of the pockets of the reps who do their best to close a deal

Decide whether or not Corporate is an area you want to still allot bandwidth for. If so , make the right investments that will allow Rave to compete with Everbridge, OnSolve, and AlertMedia. If not, transition those within corporate to the State/Local part of the business to give them a competitive chance to build a book of business

Upper management surround themselves with yes men and are not open to change. C level management see sales people as disposable which has cause numerous of great reps to leave the company. Less than 20% of reps hit their number strictly due to unrealistic goals and expectations. You can have the Dakotas as a territory and someone else can have the north east and if you are at the same sales level you will have equal quotas. Company only survives off of statewide government deals. If too many reps are doing well, instead of rewarding them they seek new ways to pay sales reps. There is flat out zero respect and appreciation for sales at the company. Compared to other software sales jobs this is definitely bottom of the pact when it comes to growth and income potential. Great products but also the definition of nice to have not need to have. Product Management is stuck in their ways as well and dont take sales opinions to heart on areas to innovate. Overall there are much better software sales options in the greater Boston area

There is a good work life balance, and the company does not expect much from employees.
|
Rave is a very poorly run organization, which is unfortunate because they have a great product, and some very good employees. The company is completely controlled by 3-4 people at the top who are not receptive to constructive criticism from any other employees. Any employee who proposes new ways to improve Rave, and in the process disagrees with management, immediately has a target on their back. There is no representation for sales within the executive team, and they are not committed to helping Account Executives succeed. At the beginning of 2020, they did a campaign to get employees to vote for Rave as one of the best places to work, it took 3 company emails, and multiple mentions during company meetings to get compliance.
