private:rayalleninc https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=608320 Apr 9th, 2021 12:00AM Open Open RAY ALLEN Asset Manager Chicago, IL Take the good with the bad I really enjoyed the friendly culture, work/life balance, and some of the perks and culture initiatives. You can be as involved or uninvolved as you want--I chose to be involved and it enriched my experience and my social ties to the company. When the office was open in Chicago, free breakfast cereals and snacks were provided which was really lovely. Hours can be flexible within a range (start anywhere from 7-9 and end anywhere from 3-5) which was really great. Good health insurance and other HR perks like divvy membership. Very casual dress code and this is very subjective but I like nearly everyone who worked there when I did. We had good rapport across teams as individuals. I was very lucky in that I felt my managers were receptive and really looking out for me for the most part--this might not be everyone's experience and is variable depending on your team, definitely not something I would guarantee. Things are changing, but while I was there I did not feel there was a very cohesive work environment on a day-to-day basis. What one department was doing was entirely separate from another department. My experiences with HR were also very hit and miss--either it was very positive or completely terrible. Salaries are not at all competitive but the environment and benefits make up for that slightly. 1.0 POSITIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 0.0 NO_OPINION 0.0 4.0 5.0 5.0 2.0 3.0 2.0 608320 Open My biggest complaint is that leadership felt very out of touch with what was happening on a day-to-day basis. There was a lot of favoritism going on and it was quite obvious. I think the office model needs to be totally re-evaluated and it shouldn't have taken a pandemic to do so--working from home is a soft benefit that costs a company nothing but is huge for employees. But for the first year of my employment it was policed which was frustrating and felt unfair as some employees were allowed a regular wfh schedule to suit their needs (but only if those needs were seen as needs by management). I think there needs to be more connectedness between execs and regular employees--and not just at the all-hands or in a social capacity after hours. It would be good to work on projects in a more meaningful way with higher ups. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 2.0 Apr 10th, 2021 05:04PM Apr 10th, 2021 05:04PM RAY ALLEN INC Technology

Unfortunately this did not carry over with the rapid growth of global expansion and all ideals were lost as the company chased its tail to keep up with the demands of Cisco. Lack of clear direction from management as the company wide calls carry cryptic messaging to hide from the negative results and keep a somewhat upbeat employee morale. Still dealing with repercussions of poor planning and spending, this company is somewhat of a sinking ship. Executive leadership could care less about career development and is more focused on steering the boat back into clear waters. Poor leadership. Excellent work-life balance with the best benefits I've ever seen! Very competitive benefits! Includes sick days, health and dental insurance, great maternity leave policy and accrued paid time off to name a few. The management team really cares about their employees, with a positive work environment where employees feel valued and appreciated. Some examples worth pointing out are within the overall atmosphere and culture. Since Ray Allen, Inc. is a private business, it allows the management team to get to know their employees, their job roles and provide support. Ray Allen hosts fun events such as birthday celebrations, charitable volunteering, and holiday gatherings. The main office is located in Chicago, IL, and various others in the US, globally and others remote. If newly hired, it has a great mentorship program to provide you with job training, and additional support with team leads. Another pro other than the flexibility, and open forum to feel comfortable in discussing anything with them. While growth opportunity and changes have been made, it is an extremely innovative and fast growing company. They are always promoting for advancement and growth opportunity within. They are so many talented people that I've met while working here. I really enjoyed my time at Ray Allen and highly recommend it!
