Team members want to do great work and foster collaboration and support across functions.
|
Very poor leadership, and no sustainable future. HR moves poor and even abusive managers around and disrupt teams rather than mentor them to be better managers or let them go. Simultaneously, cuts happen to great team members due to the continual decline of the company's financial state which has created a very imbalanced, top heavy, toxic environment. The amount of manipulation from management and HR I have witnessed is unsettling. Do not make the mistake of joining this company unless you are desperate for a paycheck.

Good jobs, bad management

It's a fast-paced environment and the company keeps up with the latest technology. The job content is interesting. The CEO wants to be with it and the company puts on some good shows.
|
There's a certain dissonance when the company dubs itself as an advertising and PR company that derives its revenue from affiliate marketing and then touts its editorial integrity. Management is more geared to its goal of generating short-term revenue and pays lip service to editorial integrity that will only pay off in the long term. This has taken a toll on overall editorial morale.
Though the company makes a lot of fuss about its annual reviews, assessments are subjective as is scope for advancement. There's no clear direction for the company and it's difficult to trust your co-workers.

The company has a very top down, heavy approach from the C suite. It almost feels like a cult as others have mentioned. There also seems to be an identity crisis within the organization as they don't really seem to know what they are. Is it a digital media company? Marketing firm? The company HQ is touted as being in Charlotte, yet it's a 40 minute drive outside the city off a highway.

I was happy for my time at Red Ventures. You are given lots of responsibility and broad leeway into how to achieve your goals. Environment is fast paced, dynamic and colleagues are high caliber.

Salary is low and with very broad variability. At least when I was there it was highly dependent on what your initial negotiated salary was. I was managing new hires that were making as much as me. The thing that I disliked the most and what made me leave was that the company is very much run at the CEO's whim. It wasn't unusual for the whole company strategy to change every few months and your job completely change with it. This just made it hard to feel connected to projects or to actually see things through.
