Unreliable
|
1) At the time I was there, they didn't have psychological experts employed to assist you with crisis situations or those that fell out of bounds with the policy. That created a lot of misgivings and anxiety.
2) There were layoffs and high turnover. The employee evaluation system was based on the whims of whoever was reviewing you, and 1-3 client sessions. It wasn't consistent, clear, or comprehensive.
3) Customers weren't given a custom experience. Regardless of their circumstances, you had to push company "programs." I often felt I had to go against my professional opinion on what was best for clients.

Management is TERRIBLE
|
The idea behind this company is great. Relationships can be difficult to manage, and having support to work through difficulties or just work toward a healthier relationship is a resource that many people could benefit from. So it’s sad to see such a great idea be so horribly mismanaged by people who clearly aren’t invested in the core of the idea, but rather just saw an opportunity for a cash grab. Some of the expectations they put on the coaches and the policies coaches have to follow when their clients show signs of a dangerous or abusive relationship dynamic are ridiculous. And when bringing up those concerns to management, we’re basically just dismissed.

Onboards many people at once, fire most after grace period without notice or explanation. Repeat!
|
Working here I genuinely wanted to help customers with their relationships. Training was detailed, but simple. Met some cool people that were brought in with me and a couple of others that have been there longer. Some managers were easy to talk to. However, the service provided is scripted, making our conversations with customers feel phony and unnatural. They do this so that if the assigned coach is not available, somebody else can take over the chat and be able to continue by follow the same script without the customer noticing. Unfortunately the customer pays per minute or per message. Otherwise I would have gladly taken my time with each customer as this is what actually retains them. Additionally, I was paid a 4th of my average salary! I had never been paid so low per hour, not even when I had my first job as a teen! The only reason I accepted was because they promised a slight raise after the grace period and because I truly wanted to be a part of what I thought was a revolutionizing company with good intentions. They use a report generated by a computer to evaluate their employees, rather than actually taking their time to audit the actual work and and quality of services given. This caused many errors and inaccurate evaluations since there were many issues that would present themselves that were system errors (i.e. system shut down, customers unable to connect, remote access errors, frozen timers, etc.) that are completely out of the employees control. After the grace period, they terminated about 70% of the new hires, me included. I found out because I realized my clients' appointments were cancelled and I received a notification through my dashboard. I later received a letter of termination with absolutely no explanation. Just 2 days prior, I was given a very high and satisfactory evaluation, so I was not expecting it. Then they onboard new people and do the process all over again, terminating them after grace period. They don't really care about keeping employees and advancing them. They prefer to pay the lowest wage possible, lower than the lowest! They're not sincere about the service they provide either. Just a number in the system. Shame.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this racket
|
We'll start with the obvious: the fact that this company uses people who are, at best, qualified to teach high school psychology to give advice about relationships. The founder himself stated in a NY Times piece that he rejects people who have graduate degrees because they lack "intuition". So we have a website using people with no experience and no real credentials using their intuition to provide advice over the internet. What could possibly go wrong?
The pay is abysmal and management hasn't got a clue as to how to run a port-a-potty, much less a startup. Please do yourself a favor and run fast and far.
