Great place to work. Pay is good and so is the benefits. Only thing I would consider a con is that there is no pto or sick days. Other than that can’t complain

Traveling to remote areas of the country to provide medical care
|
When you become employed with RMI you do so as a contracted employee. As contracts or projects come up in your state you are contacted by the particular project coordinator for your jurisdiction and asked if you'd like to take the position. You are given all logistics concerning the given project including your pay rate, per diem, hotel stay and/or car rental if away from home. When I first began with the company Covid-19 had just been declared a pandemic so work was steady. However, come Autumn it declined rapidly to the point where I was not working at all. When reaching out to operations I was told due to a decline in the economic state they were only using local staff for contracts. My particular jurisdiction is Texas, so I didn't understand how a state so large had no demand for medical services. I have not been contacted for projects since I completed my last deployment in September, which placed me in a real financial hardship. My advice is have another career to fall back on if you wish to work in this type of environment. When I was contracted though, I was treated and paid well.

Good place to work, but contract driven
|
Working at RMI was fine, it is a project/contract driven environment (unless office staff). Salary was 'day-rate' and depended on contract and industry at the time.
Biggest issue is that the different offices don't seem to talk much, Often advertising/posting for positions but not checking to determine if anyone already at RMI would be interested.
|
timeon and time off schedules(if you like that)
|
when project/contract ends not made availible to other new RMI projects without chasing people down.

Typical contractor
|
Poorly managed operations with little regard for field workers. Typical contractor like a dyncorp or calliburton. The paycheck is adequate but by no means attractive. Daily wage is similar to work in the states but you work 7 days/wk which offers a couple extra days of pay--if you stay a year you get a tax break. Disparity between corporate and field workers is typical. Poorly managed work sites with less than adequate and skilled site managers. Great for medics who want to learn diagnostic medicine in a clinic setting; not great for patients. Get your coping skills on point because you're on your own. Physicians on call are helpful and available.

Good people, flexibility to work from home is great however the HR lacks professionalism and seem pretty lost. Great co workers and environment however the upper management needs improvement.

Lovely company to work for, lack of strategic direction and systems that cause operational difficulties. Can't fault my boss but further up the chain decisions need to be made.

Dog friendly but not Employee friendly
|
Lack of communication is a big problem at this company, it's been brought up so many times its now a joke among the associates and other Leaders. Executives seem disconnected from the direction of the company and their workers. They are also payed in crazy amounts more then the individuals who are more knowledgable about the field and do the ground work for projects. Raises are rare.
No diversity or encouragement for career advancements what so ever. Most higher paying positions get filled instantly by friends of the executives. Lots of turnover with a lot more to come if things don't get fixed fast.
HR Executive is extremely extremely unprofessional and tends to openly trash talk current workers and past ones that have left. Brought up multiple issues to HR about sexist comments which were brushed off as miscommunication (She did nothing to fix this). Very disappointed.
During my "exit interview" I was basically attacked by HR regarding personal matters that had nothing to do with me. But that is her style after all.
Working remote is an option, but be careful because some executives and managers from other departments will automatically mark this against you by just assuming you're not actually working if you are not physically in the office. Basically devalues the actual work you are doing and is very frustrating which makes life work balance even more impossible because you will be working at odd hours pretty often due to the company being internationally ran.
No growth for your future. New employees are found to be paid more then ones that have been working with the company for years. Sad.
